That's good that you feel able to speak for all Barnsley supporters who were there. I've just been out with two Barnsley supporters who were there and they told me that Derby were the better team. So I found two, and I wasn't even looking for them.
Well perhaps you might have been more enlightened had you gone. I'd welcome a chat with your two fellow fans. You can look at the stats on BBC sports and they will tell you from an objective point of view how vastly superior Derby were.
My mate went and said "played them off the park second half and we should have got something from that game".......I respect his comment as it"s always on point and objective.
I gave an opinion. You gave a counter opinion. Both are valid. You claiming that you speak for all Barnsley fans who went to the game is not valid.
I can agree with that. You may well have met the two who think Derby were much better than us. Perhaps the others who went to the match can post their own opinions on here, and i can have my own observations pilloried.
Did they look better in person than on ifollow? Was it the atmosphere or the beer? I watched in ifollow and for me Derby ran out of steam. But we still couldn’t pass a ball for much of the game, and gave away the ball too easily.
I don't want your observations pilloried. Your observations add value. And I didn't make a definitive statement, I wrote, and I quote "I think Derby were a much better team than us." That's me making absolutely clear it's a personal opinion, not a fact. And I'm open to anyone disagreeing with that. And I will listen. But I'm not swayed by you trying to 'prove me wrong' by saying that everyone else thought differently. You thought differently, that's more than enough to give your worthwhile view.
Read Post #20 re beer. I drove there and back. We were the better team. Even with a rejigged midfield (which I wasn't expecting to be able to say). We're just crap up top. As per.
I've already accepted that my hyperbole was a bit too far. It's been a long day. A hot one and a bit of a drive. I've told you off in the past for using the Royal "we". (we were better than them so there)
Surely the point is we lost again away from home and we still appear to have the same problems as last season lack of goals in the squad and individual mistakes still being made far too often.
Yeah and if you'd actually been at the game you'd be able to give a more informed correction on the statistics. Has anyone posted on here, who went to the game, that we've been played off the park? When they do, I shall take issue with them. And have a decent discussion, hopefully.
An archetypal game of two halves for me that. I couldn't believe some of the hyperbole that came from some quarters about individual players last week after we won and so will not go the other way this week after we've lost. I've said I'm not going to comment on individual performances of new players until 5-6 league games in and am determined to stick to that. Positives for me:- We're clearly a lot fitter than last season Benson's continued improvement Jordan Williams (though RWB desperately needed so he can move inside) Duff can obviously deliver a mean HT talk We worked very hard second half and didn't seem too bad 'tee to green' so to speak (unfortunately we can't 'putt') The lacking areas for me remain as advertised namely leadership, athleticism, creativity, goal threat and PACE and must be addressed swiftly now imho. The minimum four players we need remain RWB, experienced midfield leader and two strikers. Were we unlucky not to get anything? Not in my view - harsh, maybe, but when we've gifted them two goals in the first half and then missed sitters in the second we're the authors of our own downfall. We made the mistakes at our end of the pitch when they were on top and we made the mistakes at their end of the pitch when we were on top. Good to be back watching with 'normal' crowds but at a ground which has to be one of the very worst stewarded in the country.
I didn’t go nor have I watched any highlights or anything. A mate of mine who’s a Derby fan went and messaged me earlier, saying we deserved a point at least as we played em off the park 2nd half. Accounts for nothing though at the end of the day.
The difference from last year going 2 nil down we would have thrown the towel in.Yesterday they fought till the end & with better finishing we could have won the game.
Surprised at some of the responses. Thought we played well in large spells and were competitive for 90 minutes. Plain to see where the biggest problem is, but we knew that already.
You say that but judging by the goals we conceded and adding that to the gift we gave plymouth, the own goal against Sheffield United and, despite it being a weakened team, the two gifts to Harrogate and isn't the biggest problem at the back? We looked solid in the forest friendly but in fairness forest didn't attack much. From what I've seen if the ball goes in the 18 yard box we look like amateurs.
