Morris - started 2 games for Luton, came on as sub in the other 2. Hasn't scored. They haven't won, drawing 2 and losing 2. Woodrow - started the cup game against Newport County which they lost. On the bench for the three league games. Hasn't scored. Not sure what they expected when they signed the strike force of the team that finished rock bottom of the league and averaged a goal every bank holiday. 2 League games for Blackburn so far, 2 victories, 2 clean sheets and 2 starts for Callum Brittain. He didn't play in the cup victory. They play WBA today. Victor started the 3 league games for Burton and came on as a first half sub in the cup. You won't be surprised to hear he hasn't scored. Neither did Burton in the first three games, but they conceded 9. And they conceded another 4 yesterday, but also scored 4. They were 3-0 up 5 minutes into the second half and 4-2 up on 90 minutes but ballsed it up. Palmer has gone to Turkey and Halme has signed for HJK Helsinki. Out of sight out of mind.
Perhaps they thought the same as many reds fans, 2 decent strikers that played in a poor team and with better organisation and players around them they could do much better. Haven’t followed Luton’sseason so far so can’t put any context into it, further add, it is still only August
Think Morris will come good, if he can avoid injury. Cauley seems to have lost his way a bit. Early in the season yet.
Unpopular opinion, but I actually thought Woodrow played his best football as a number 10. He certainly was at his most prolific then, and probably got the best out of Chaplin too.
Woodrow, Morris and Brittain were all sold as a financial necessity. So will Helik and likely Styles if there are any bidders. The club needs money, survival depends on transfer fees incoming. For all the talk from Neerav and the rest of the board they don’t fancy ponying up their own cash in large amounts to support the club.
Reminds me of a thread a few years back when someone was arguing that when you get relegated none of your players are good enough for the league they’ve been relegated from (seriously). No one told Jurgen Klopp this who signed Robertson from relegated Hull, Shaqiri from relegated Stoke & Wijnaldjium from relegated Newcastle & won the lot over the next few seasons. Luton’s gone with what got them to 5th in the league. Won’t be long until our lads get their chance if they keep failing to win. Victor’s Victor. Never going to score many. Brittain decent championship wing back.
Perhaps ponying up the £1m was simply to avoid administration. Thereby avoiding the forfeit of their investment, and buy time, hoping that incoming transfer fees and cutting the wage bill would resolve the problem. The extent to which they have succeeded remains to be seen.
I didn’t even realise Aapo Noseybonk had left for Helsinki. Hope he does well, I thought he was alright.
subbed after the same amount of time in the friendlies too. Definitely hasnt go the heart for 90 minutes
