Watching taffs v Brum, saw that scrimshaw at chezzy other week and a lovely smooth action and tall and fast, 20ish off 20 and 2 wkts tonight, 1 to look out for
I predict that County cricket and Test Match cricket will be dead before the end of the decade, probably earlier. Victims of money and greed, same as everything else these days…. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/b...-of-alternative-season?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
Bloody The Hundred. At 8am and 1 second they started doing stadium announcements and have been drumming, playing music and making announcements non-stop ever since. Not impressed on a Sunday morning, they could have waited an hour, surely? (Yes, I chose to live near the stadium, I could shut my windows despite the heat etc. but I’m not that arsed really, just fancied a bit of a moan as I’ve not slept well )
He seemed to have a big hiccup in his very early 20’s as when he was 20, he showed great potential. Wiki says he was injured but I don’t seem to recall a long term setback
It's just bubblegum cricket. Tasty whilst it lasts but ultimately not satisfying or memorable. The game is devalued. Nobody remembers the results or who won. Indeed the result is superfluous to the event in many ways. Why anyone would want to be a bowler, lord knows. They might as well stick a bowling machine at the other end as there's sod all competition between bat and ball. But that was always going to be the case once the capitalist pigs realised the money was to be made from 6s and 4s, and not skillful bowling.
Pop down the the day, you might enjoy it Cricket along with Darts are the best two sports to watch in person without being a fan. It's just drinking, singing, fancy dress and party atmosphere. What's going off in the stands at times makes what is happening on the pitch secondary. Being sat in the Western Terrace would be an erm experience for you The male team are pretty old compared to other teams and has only two 'Yorkshire' players in it. The women's team is talented and you'd be surprised at the standard.
yeah i get that, good entertainment with some decent laikers, and the thought of du plessis as headingley based team captain sounds great but personally i don't give a toss win or lose, got no affiliation with any team, in fact i was wanting tommo to take a few wkts today
The women did splendid to defend the total they got. The run out Wolvaardt got was class and the innings of Heath. Shame the men were so pathetic. Having back Brook and Willey made no difference.
No pull to this format at all. How can you have your best local players playing for rival teams? Cannot see it lasting long. We have county cricket (albeit played predominantly in spring and autumn) t20 and 50 over cricket. A 4th format of the game was totally unnecessary in my opinion.
For last few years they’ve had T10 matches in the Emirates…. now that is proper playground cricket ( as one commentator called it !)
also a t10 tournament starting in the west indies, way it's going the coin toss will determine the winner! everything is getting geared up to last as long as a football match, an argument could be made if it is here to stay, then to shorten the span, they are only on the field 2hrs ish, 4/5 games p/w should be easy for them even with travel, but then tv kicks in, would the beeb and $ky split matches with 2 games at once with double the camera set up cost? the whole debacle could be over inside 2 weeks
The BBC has a massive love in for the hundred. Also has a massive love in for the Prem. Going the same way as Sky. Everything below the highest/elitist level is just an afterthought.
t20 WC starts in October, final mid November down under. 50 over WC October/November next year in India,
Ta I thought we’d have a few T20’s before World Cup. I guess we’ll go to Aus early/mid October and play a few warm ups
We've got a 7, yep, SEVEN!!! match series in Pakistan in September/October and 3 games v the Aussies just before the WC begins, (all t20s)
