Collins McCarthy Cundy Anderson kitchen Connell Williams Benson Styles Thomas Norwood This team would play a BACK four. Releases Williams and Styles to go forward and work hard in midfield.lts a start. How many goals or assists have our wing backs made for us in the last two seasons. How many times caught out of position.
So, in order to score more goals you've dropped a forward and replaced him with a centre half. Cunning plan.
Neither of those players are fullbacks and I'd imagine width would be non existent with that formation. If we had the players however I would like to see a formation with wingers and be less reliant on fullbacks to both attack and defend.
I'm happy to continue with whatever Duff thinks will yield us the most results over the course of a full season. If we can create one or two more chances a game as we grow in to what he wants, and start to take the ones that come our way, we'll be fine. Tough, tough game on Saturday and we hardly disgraced ourselves so no need to be knee jerk and change everything.
Probably. But different if you've got context of doing some of that already. Some teams might not be creating anything to start with, whereas we're having chances in games but being unlucky or not getting the rub of the green from the officials. Two stonewall penalties not given for me in both away games thus far.
A decent new striker would go a long way to solving our problems, one thinks.... And no, One thinks isn't a Korean striker...lol
Not sure there was a lot wrong with the formation on Saturday at Derby - the fundamental problem was we had 2 clear cut chances - the same as Derby and didnt take any of them as Bensons goal was a deflected shot if your strikers cant take golden chances changing the formation isnt going to help
Which manager was it who used to play centre halves at full back? Stendel maybe? Either way, I remember it not working.
Im sure I remember Gudjon Thordarson playing Centre Halves as Centre Forwards - that didnt work either
I would love to see two wingers , but who are they going to cross for. I stayed behind Saturday and clapped them off, great effort. But their left winger had so much room first half.By playing a back four l thought styles and Williams would be more effective
I remember the Pint-sized Powerpoint Pillock taking both full backs off in a game at Doncaster which was 1-1 and we were absolutely murdering them. We then lost 2-1.
I'm happy wi the set up at moment, could hold our own wi this lot, Helik, Styles out, 2 in, Balance the books, and onwards an upwards. C,O,Y,R,
Just finished watching it. I'd say Derby were just about good value for the win on chances, the ball Hourihane put in for Collins who slid it just wide was top drawer. It was a mixed bag from us. Started well and looked sharp and it seemed to taper off from there. There are a few glimpses of what I think we're edging towards but it's going to be a work in progress with plenty of changes to come in the next few weeks. It wasn't a disaster though and I suspect we might have a fair few games like that this season. As for changing the formation... it's just not going to happen anytime soon unless Duff gets to a point where he doesn't think he can make 3 at the back work with the players he's left with.
