I'd be interested to know the legalities of WIndow Cleaners stepping in to do roofing jobs, not using scaffolding, and presumably not acredited. If anyone has any knowledge, would you PM me? TIA

You'd have been better off having a night on the tiles...

Not sure scaffolding is a requirement - there is an excellent roofing company in Farnham who did some work on my tiled roof and the guys just used a ladder. they were repairing a leak replacing the felt and some flashing around a vent - did a good job except they damaged my TV aerial. When I phoned up the boss to complain he just sent a TV aerial guy round to have a look - who could see the damage and just put me a new aerial up no charge. you might struggle to get anything back if your Window Cleaner breaks something and his insurance probably doesnt cover him though it might
If your window cleaner is just replacing a slipped tile or something its probably OK anything more than that Id want someone who is properly trained

The only thing that connects your window cleaner to your roof is his ladder, I'd definitely use a roofer if you need any repairs doing. Not sure where you live but I know a great roofer that lives in Wakefield if he could help ?

Im a gas engineer and we are allowed to do vertical flues from cat ladders and this involves lifting and cutting roof tiles. Not sure there are any regs regarding who can carry out roofing repair work except where it may void warranties on new builds etc

I got a job as a roofer and my boss caught me masturbating on my first day. Didn't get sacked but agreed just to wipe the slate clean.

    Too far ?

My window cleaner did a small roof repair for me. Didn't charge me a penny either.

He said it was on the house

Thanks. It’s not our house - it’s a situation where we have an interest in the job being done properly by someone who is trained and insured, and not by a window cleaner who has just sweet talked the owner with “oh I’ll fix that for you”. There’s a history of similar bodged jobs and we’re trying to avoid another.
