Give them time, I'd still have the pair of them here.

Morris is a top 6 Championship striker when fit and firing. The fitness point is his weakness

He scored 16 league goals in 29 starts the season before, plus a further 3 goals in 3 starts in the FA Cup. Surely that was his most prolific period.

    This.
I just don’t think they Adebayo & Morris works.
Morris is a decent player but I suspect you will end up choosing between them as opposed together.

Some claim that mate. The Tale of Martin Nettleton is a strong, strong contender.

I’ll be honest, I was shocked Luton thought it was a good idea to raid Barnsley after last season.

We were absolutely garbage, and signing our players after that season can only result in the same way. I fully expect Luton to be garbage this season.

Woodrow was a great servant overall for the club, and if either of them were to come back it’ll be him for me. Just because of the emotional connection, all in all he worked his arse off for this club.

Woodrow was brilliant in his first season and again in the Championship on and off for the Stendel/ Struber season. I think he held the key to the dressing room to be honest.

For eighteen months he was better at visiting schools and hospitals and having selfies. Great ambassador but his football on the wain.

Would have liked to have seen him for six months this season to in case he rediscovered his mojo in League 1 but finances dictated otherwise.

He might benefit from playing in and around the box if you can get it into his feet. Towards the end of his Barnsley career he played with a crap midfield and his back to goal.

As for Morris. Complete striker best I've seen since Ward and Shipperley. Only problem is he's made of glass and goes for a game off golf when chips are down.

Regarding Morris, I’d like to welcome Luton fans to the uncomfortable feeling of having your heart in your mouth every time he goes down, is challenged in any way or if any opposition player goes anywhere near him.

Woodrow looked gash for 18 months prior to us selling him.

Fair enough, at Championship level though at least?

I recall at the time there was this outcry for Woodrow to go back up front, because if he was scoring so regularly in the number 10 role, surely he'd score more as an out and out striker. I believe Brown was playing alongside Chaplin and missing quite a lot of chances.

I've read a few times that Struber 'ruined' Woodrow by playing him in a 10 though, and it's simply not true. His form began to dip post Covid restart when he returned to his favoured position.

Controversial opinion but I think it was Val that didn't help Woodrow. The style bypassed him a bit as he didn't get in the box like Dike and Morris. It was no surprise they outscored him.

His most prolific spell was as a striker alongside Moore in League One?

Playing as a #10 didn’t ruin him though. Actually suited his abilities because out of nowhere he started running in quicksand and lost all his pace.

This is actually the greatest myth about Woodrow. Woodrow and Moore started a grand total of 11 league matches together. In one of those Woodrow went off after 42 minutes and in another Moore was withdrawn at half time.

Maybe Struber saw this in training?

How many did he score in those 11 though? I have no idea by the way

I recall him being quite prolific playing just behind Chaplin and Brown, so maybe it was his most prolific spell at Championship level.

It definitely suited him. He was already dropping deep to pick up possession anyway.

He scored the same number of goals that season as a 10 behind Brown and Chaplin when Struber arrived as he had done in the first half of the season under Stendel and Murray when playing up top. Overall that whole season was his best at Championship level as after that he went downhill down to changes in system and then the obvious collapse under those two last season.

He was our most creative striker, had the best control, and the best shot from distance. He couldn’t run beyond players anymore, nor could he outpace defenders, and like you said he was dropping deep anyway - much to the frustration of many supporters.

I liked him in that role. Thought it made us look more dangerous and got the best out of him.
