It'll be up to him to work his way back into the team. Andersen and Kitching are both playing well. McCarthy looks good on the limited time I've seen him play. Cundy did a good job last night too. There's also the quandary of where Jordan Williams plays if we sign another RWB.

It depends when his contract expires.
We cant have him leave for nothing and if he gets injured again no one will take him in January. Then he will sit it out until the summer and go for free.
If Helik plays until Jan then goes it would mean starting again for the second half of the season with a new backline.
Anderson Cundy Kitching look good enough for this season and the more that they play together the stronger they will become.

We have Helik, Williams McCarthy Moon Sraha as cover for injuries for the starring 3.

So for me unless he signs an extra year on his contract we don't play him, this is only for the long term benefit of the team and commercial standpoint of the club.
If he extends his contract he is the first name on the team sheet.

Imho you play your best players.
He (for the moment) is one of our best players.

Helik has to play when fit in my opinion. Even if he goes in January, we need that quality. He is our best centre-back and he would boss League One.

There will be time for Cundy and McCarthy to become integrated. Also Kitching - he had a good game last night, but i wouldn't get too comfortable if i were him - his sloppy wayward passes, heavy-footed passing/crossing of the ball, and being beaten by a man means his place isn't guaranteed. Competition is good though. All three still have a lot to learn, and we saw the dangers of playing young, inexperienced centre-backs when we got promoted last. Sibbick and Anderson both needed a lot of time to embed themselves and grow in confidence, and they were in my opinion thrown in too soon and by then it was too late - we saw week after week the constant mistakes and lack of experience, I felt sorry for them. The steady head of Solbaur was a Godsend, and the other centre halves will learn a lot from Helik if he remains with us for a time.

Starting Helik is a no-brainer for me.

He plays! Whether it suits some narratives or not, he’s head & shoulders above anything we have at the Club.

The question now is, what injury does he have and when can we expect a return to fitness?

I think you’re asking for an update from the Club. I’d like to know that as well.

If he doesn't go this window then he has to play. He is the best CB we have in the club and would probably be the best in the league by some distance.

If we don't play him and he sits in the U23s or whatever, then we have zero chance of selling him in January as he will have had half a season off and be even further out of the minds of any prospective buyer. Not playing him when fit would be basically confirming us letting him go for nowt next summer.

He's our player and clearly the best CB at the club, he has to play when fit.

Helik and Anderson are streets ahead of our other defenders. If both are fit and healthy. Both play.

I wouldn't play him. Our CBs have kept 3 clean sheets in 5 and we've only let in more than one in one of those five games. Neither deserves to be dropped for someone who doesn't want to be here.

Can't argue with that, Helik might have to be sub for a few games and re-establish himself. Hopefully, he has the right attitude to do it.

I think its a moot point. We have to get rid of him. My feeling is we're holding out for a higher offer, but as the window gets closer to closing, we have to offload. We've more than enough centre halves already and the elephant in the room is still in the room.

Not sure why we have to get rid of him now when there is always january , clubs in trouble throw money at the january market plus teams that are going for it tend to strengthen , he is an international & is first choice here when fit , we do not have to accept the first two bob thrown at us , play the long game for a change & lets sell under our terms or keep him & try to get back to the championship .

You have play the hand you are dealt with to the best you can. Helik is still a barnsley player. If he goes in the window then no argument and the chance he might is most likely why he isnt featuring. However, if he doesn't then we have undoubtedly the best defender in the division who can wade in with the odd much needed goal as well. The upside for Helik is that if he doesnt get a move now, put in good displays and he'll go in january
