Best game in a Barnsley shirt for me. Put himself about, won most of the balls in the air, and put that goal in from a vey tight angle. Good to see.
Was fantastic right up until the moment before he went off, when he found himself enjoying the crowd cheering his trickery only to lose all awareness and almost set them up for a goal
Some of the criticisms were justified last season. But I think some were unfair. Lots of games he came on as a lone striker after typically 2 were taken off. The backline of the opposition just had him running round in circles. Which the players taken off. Didn't have to do. Sharing the responsibility of chasing the defenders down. He certainly looked bolloxed when he tried playing out of defence last night. And rightly substituted.
Great performance from Cole . However, one swallow does not make a summer ! I am expecting a brace Saturday
It was quite funny to see him dribble and jinx his way out past several players and with a Barnsley player racing down the left in the open he gave the ball away when the pass would have been so easy. He was knackered ! You could see that.
If he continues to put the effort in like he did on Tuesday he'll be a valuable member of the team. And I don't necessarily mean chasing down defenders when we haven't got the ball, I mean making runs into space and battling for the ball when it's played up to him. He did that throughout the first half and looked a good player because of it.
He was brilliant Tuesday. That’s what he should be doing. He’s always had pace & the ability to finish but he’s proven he can do the other side of the game now. I don’t want to see him reverting back to the Cole of last season who wouldn’t challenge for headers & rarely pressed.
I thought he had a good first half. He took his goal very well, and found himself in a couple of great positions to score more. I thought in the 2nd half, he reverted to type a little bit. He frustrates me when he tries fancy one time passes at times where he just needs to get the ball under control. He did this quite a lot in the 2nd half, but you could see he was struggling before we took him off. Overall though, a decent performance.
Yeah that's when Duff took him off.. he was done then. Cole did well first half, can't remember greatness second half tho. But he's set the bar and needs to keep to that stranded.
I think he was completely spent, and literally ran out of energy. He'd clearly been struggling for a good 5 minutes before, so I was quite surprised when he tried something so audacious, 35 yards from his own goal.
I think the problem was Duff swapped him and Aitchinson to different wings. I felt it meant Devante was tracking back a lot more and Aitchinson became even more ineffective. A striker with pace and power alongside Devante would really help the team. I don't know if Iseka is that sort of player, otherwise there isn't anyone at the club. There is a thread about Norwood, based on Tuesdays view, seems a desperate signing.
