    Now it might just be me that this passed by but me n my lad just finished the series. Fantastic drama. Following football in the late 1800 when the 10 point constitution with the original rules that shaped the game. ( We saw the book at the national football museum last month).

    It focuses on the FA Cup really and the battle between the posh southern teams like Old Etonions and Northern ones from mill towns like Darwen and Preston.

    It's not just football. There's industrial stuff, politics etc. Very well made and an interesting and great viewing.

    Highly recommended to those it didn't pass by like myself.

    Saw it when it first appeared and thought it was brilliant. I’ve recently added it to my list to watch again, when I get the time

    Watched it a while back. Great viewing and a good historical insight into how football was in the early days.
    Well worth watching.

    Interesting to see how football was in the early days. A line of forwards going forward, like rugby union without the use of hands. Passing back was thought to be effete and cheating.

    I liked to quotes when money started creeping in (illegally). "The teams with the most money will win everything!"

    "I need to go I've a family to look after."

    and players getting dogs abuse for moving to a rival.

    Glad all that has changed now we're 140 years on.

    Really enjoyed it. Pride and Prejudice meets Jossy's Giants! A lot of small historical details were changed, but the overall idea is pretty close to what was going on at the time. And without wishing to play on gender stereotypes, it was a great one to watch with my missus. She does like football, but definitely not to the same degree I do!

    We really enjoyed it first time round. Got quite a lot on my " to be watched" list so not sure I could rewatch it, but it was very good.

    Edward Holcroft is brilliant as “toff” footballer Arthur Kinnaird. He did a good George Boleyn in Wolf Hall as well as many other film and tv roles.
