I don't know about anyone else but I had no idea about this.

When the Nazi's were sending people to concentration camps they made them wear symbols. Obviously we all know about the star of David for Jewish people but there were also symbols worn by prisoners for a whole host of other reasons, polish prisoners had a letter P, Jehovah's witnesses had a purple triangle etc. Homosexuals had a pink triangle on their clothing.

When the allied forces liberated the camps, what do you think they did with the people wearing the homosexual triangle? They rounded them up and put them in German prisons and left them there.

Homosexuals were not liberated or saved from concentration camps, instead they were simply moved from a camp to a prison. Not only that but the years they had spent in concentration camps were not considered as served in prison so it was added on to their sentence.

The world isn't perfect but we've come a hell of a long way in trying to accept people for what they are. I hope that trend continues

It boggles my mind that homosexuality was (still is in plenty of countries) considered a criminal offence. And without trying to offend anyone, it was because a big invisible man in the sky said so, for what reason? Just cos

It wasnt until the year 2000 that gay men/women were allowed to serve in the British army.

Yes and it was thought he killed himself later in life, up until around a decade ago when reports said it was more likely an accidental poisoning. Such a British hero, and the way he was treated is still sickening to this day.

When i joined in 87 you were asked your sexuality, I know of two lads who were sent to colly or discharged for being gay, like you say it only changed in 2000, when they caught up with the times, quite a few came out. It never affected them from doing there jobs, being shot at in Iraq whether a lad liked men, goats or pegging was irrelevant if he could shoot straight ( pardon the pun) then he'd do for me.

Exactly this. Gary Lineker is a massive proponent of issues like this. I'd love for him to boycott Qatar for the World Cup, I'd love them all to do it. I realise it's their jobs, but 1) they're not short a bob or two and 2) it would send a huge message. Especially given all the human rights issues during the years up to this world cup, literally including death for workers. Horrible.

The Nazi Regime was incarcerating homosexual men as early as 1933.

2022 - In Poland PM Morowiecki's Law and Justice Party is pursuing anti LGBT policies/laws.
Gay men and women are persecuted and literally 100's of villages/districts display signs proclaiming they are LGBT+ Free Zones.

Back to the OP I knew the Nazis had sent homosexuals to the concentration camps. I never knew until now they were liberated straight to prison. It’s a depressing thought.

I just can’t understand why it’s ever been a crime what 2 consenting adults do in private

For all our faults at least in most of Europe a more tolerant attitude is the norm now but its not the same in other parts of the world.

And interesting that it’s just homosexual men; misogyny was so deep lesbians weren’t even considered to exist.

The irony is that those persecuting gay men were probably masturbating to Lesbian fantasies and anal sex.

Spot on. Money speaks louder than words to Fifa.

A country with a less than 3m. population.
In early 2017, Qatar's total population was 2.6 million: 313,000 Qatari citizens and 2.3 million expatriates.

Stadiums that will never be filled again.

Seven of the eight venues have been built from scratch for the tournament, with the other one also extensively redeveloped. Six of the stadiums will have about half their seats taken up afterwards (and sent to developing countries), while a seventh will be dismantled.1 Apr 2022

Wonder if yorkshire will make a bid in the future. ? And be considered.
