I humbly beg your forgiveness for having escaped UK in time. In spite of the fact my country of residence is in complete chaos with no effective PM or Government, that is nothing as compared to the fact your next PM is almost certain to be Truss. She has just been told her plans are financially unreaistic (as if we did not know that already). Worse still, she seems to be right of Thatcher at a time and unrepentent in planning tax cuts and a low taxation policy which is the last thing UK needs.

The only thing I have to say in my defence is that I did NOT support or vote for them at the last election, nor can I remember the last time I did. I confess to voting for Blair as at teh time hes seemed like a 'breath of fresh air' and we all knwo where that went!

I sincerely hope that, by some miracle the UK can dig itself out of the mess it is in and people can once again lead productive and prosperous lives.

    Jesus!! Just read this...
Cornwall mother, 90, in 40-hour wait for ambulance

and a related incident (also in Cornwall) where
an 87 year old man, fell, could not be moved and the family had to build a makeshift shelter overnight as he waited 14 hours for an ambulance.

The 'Postcode lottery' argument is irrelevant. Noone anywherein let alone in a 1st World Country should be treated like that.

In contrast, (not in any way boasting) I have had issue with my hearing. As a musician live and recording (albeit retired) I went to my doctor, appreciating it is not exactly a priority. Nevertheless she gave me a prescription to get an appointment at the ENT department at the hospital (1st consultation visit) The appointment was for only 6 weeks later. I expected to have a basic examination of my ears to try and identify the cause, suspecting an ETD issue. On arrival, I was taken straight in to see the specialist who did an examination of my outer ear & eardrums and determined a huge build up of wax. rather than arrange a further appointment, they then proceeeded to remove the wax using suction and syringing which due to the amount took over 35 minutes to complete. I then had a camera up my nose and down the throat to check for any potential issues. She then gave me a full diagnosis to give to my GP, explained fully ,in English, that I should leave it a few days to ensure the Eustasian tube cleared now that the eardrums were more flexible (the treatment had immediate results although not 100% ) and suggested I should arrange a full audiology test to further diagnose any problesm with the inner ear. She also told me which eardrops to get and when to use them to avoid further build up. Overall I was in the 'consulting room for over an hour for all the procedures to be completed. As I said, only 6 weeks form the day I went to see my GP.

Based on a friend of my daughter who has ended up with stage 4 cervical cancer which went undiagnosed for months and months after failing to get a GP face to face appointment and eventual hospital appointments kept getting cancelled, and is now suffering the most horrendous aggressive treatment of Chemo and Radio therapy and the fact my daughter has had a long term issue that was misdiagnosed aand has been going on for over two years clearly teh NHS is no longer the institution I grew up with and benefitted from. No one is blaming the NHS staff but the blame lies 100% with those responsible for the structure and funding of teh NHS: Time and again the boast of addtional funding but there are two many levels of management, lack of long term recruitment too litte too late. When an experienced nurse earns half of what an underground train driver (only one example) receives each month then something is seriously wrong with priorities.

What the answer is I do not know, but efficiency savings cutting clinical staff, capital resources in an ever increasing population whilst management layers 'balloon' is not the way forward.

The problem is the NHS crisis has come to a head at the time when there is the perfect storm.... incompetent politicians, War in Europe, post Pandemic, runaway inflation, Oil and Gas shortages.

UK is now in an economic war situation akin to that experienced by people who went through WW2 .

We need Sanna Marin as our next PM. Finland people aren't too pleased with her dancing, drinking and having a good time on video.

While I agree with point of your post, its a lot easier to diagnose and treat a blocked ear than cancer.

Anyone else, stupidly, open this up expecting to read an apology? To then be confronted with this as an opening line ‘I humbly beg your forgiveness for having escaped UK in time.’

A charlatan of the highest order.

You can tell by his voting record that he is a few penny's short of a pound. However he is more articulate than your common village idiot, so it's hard to place him.

I'm imaging a jovial, bottom of the class in private school type - thick, but pompously unaware and considers himself better than the common man.

I honestly expected it to be an "honest and sincere apology" for the rant (which apparently wasn't a rant) a few days ago. Then, on reading it, I realised it was just another rant, prefixed with patronising sarcasm. So yes, I'm stupid.

I do not think you are far off with your summary however I would add that it is a attention seeking look at me post , it is a pathetic attempt at gaining attention , this guy must certainly be a sad lonely person who quite frankly should be stopped from posting such garbage , there is no wonder that some would prefer different categories & sections for none football posts , this would fall into the section for " I need attention posts "

I told Tekky I'm not going to be personal about him any more, but just one story from last night, which this post reminded me of.

Recently the group i play 5-a-side with have merged with the lads who play on the next pitch to us (to make up numbers). This has been going on a few months and we're all used to each other now. Initially, I really didn't take to one of the lads - let's call him Jack (cos that's his name :D). A bit gobby, can score, annoyingly, and would say things like 'and Thierry Henry bags another' before sticking it in the net (very embarrassing, for the narcissism, the fact that it isn't 2004 any more, and the fact that only 9 year olds tend to compare themselves to one of the greats and openly comment on it). Anyway, I've slightly warmed to Jack in recent months, because unlike the rest of his group he doesn't take himself too seriously, and he will talk to us all and make it a social thing.

Anyway, we mixed the teams last night, and one of the lads on our team - Mike, more annoying than Jack even as despite being quite stocky tends to writhe around on the floor a lot - didn't turn up. So we were 6 vs 7 in the driving rain. It wasn't the rout they were expecting, but Jack (on the other team) first had the terrible idea of 'whoever's got the ball, I'm on their team to make it fairer' which was shot down immediately. Then he kept offering to switch sides - again, wasn't happening. But right at the death, when we'd ran out of steam and they started banging the goals in, Jack made space for himself and planted the ball in the middle of the goal before declaring 'oh man, that was SUCH a bad finish.' I really wanted to put him in the hedge bottom after that - dude, you scored! Accept it with dignity. Stop trying to make us feel better in a bad situation, it's not working, it's condescending. Anyway, regardless of who posted the thread, this is how it made me feel.

I always enjoy reading your posts and you're definitely one of my favourite posters on here. Just thought I'd add a bit of balance to some toxic threads :)
