Penistone Church won again at the weekend so are now in the first qualifying round. Plenty of other local sides involved too.
Nice to see Bury in there. Hope they get to the First Round proper and are drawn against us. Enfield as well. Imagine playing them again!
Stone Old Alleynians for us in the first round proper, just for the name. Some cracking names in the competition.
Watched Bury at Hallam in the first round preliminary. Just shy of 1200, all ticket game, Bury brought around 400.
They’d bring a couple of thousand to us I bet. I remember that great run to the fifth round 64/65 where we dispatched two Second Division teams. Scunthorpe in the Third Round after a draw at the Old Show Ground and then Bury in the Fourth at Oakwell. Our reward was seeing the great Best, Law and Charlton side in the Fifth Round. They were a bit too good for us - 0-4 was about right but what a thrilling cup run that was.
I'd like to see Redditch United progress. They are the host ground for the ENgland Mens and Womens Walking Football Community teams, Great people, very supportive, and a lovely (astroturf) pitch to play on.
Good luck to penistone. It would be an amazing achievement to reach the 1st rd proper. 4 qualifying rounds ahead.
The crossbar at the bottom end is level with your feet, if you're stood on the back row of the stand at the opposite end. Bet its great for sledging on.
Didn't we play most of the match with 10 men though? It was in the day of no substitutes and their goalie crocked Tony Leighton, our star goalscorer, who was carried off if my memory serves me correctly.
I hope not DB. I played over 400 games for Wolverhampton Casuals, who they play in a replay tomorrow night, so am hoping they might win the replay and somehow make the first round proper. Although irrespective of who wins, it's a difficult game in the next round v Chasetown who reached the third round in 2007/08. Edit: It's made my evening that Wolverhampton Casuals have been mentioned on here!
I'm sorry. Let's go for Brentwood Town so Benson can play his local side. Cool you played so many games for one club.
If Penistone Church had to win a game to be in the draw then this cannot be the first qualifying round. The game they won was, by definition, a qualifying round. 1st rarnd o' cup on Setdi. 1st Rarnd? We've already won 48 games to get here! It's been going on 7 years!

I don’t remember that happening to Leighton but even if we’d played with 15 men we would have still been no match for United.
preliminary rounds and even extra preliminary rounds. How many depends on how many enter. They’ve obviously got to get to a set number of starting clubs at this point step 3 clubs enter at round 1 Step 2 clubs enter at Round 3 Step 1 clubs enter at round 4 Then leaves 1 and 2 clubs at first round proper etc
