Despite my high opinion of Collins, I am certainly prepared to concede that he was at fault with Derby's first goal. He was not the first goalkeeper to have problems with a Hourihane corner.

Just based on abilities. I just think Jack is the better of the 2. And have always thought that. As I say mistakes happen.. Both are capable of that.
I've not bigged up one overly over the other. Just a preference.

I'm basing my opinion on abilities too, of course. I think Collins is far better as a sweeper keeper and is ultra-alert to danger. As I said, we are obviously not going to agree, though we can each respect the opinion of the other, I hope.

Not an issue but why quote what you think he is better at but not worse. Eg shot stopping. Catching. As for far better. I wouldn't go that far. Better slightly in my view. I do respect your opinion fully. (I don't know why you would question that) I just don't agree.
And believe me I'm in a minority. doesn't make me necessarily wrong.

As a standard goalkeeper asked to do goalkeeper things I think Walton is the better of the two, as a keeper asked to play as a sweeper I think Collins has shown, particularly during Val's time here, that he's one of the best.
To decide which keeper is 'better' in our nets is all based on what we want them to do and what tactics we're playing. A bit like choosing between playing a tall strong striker or a tricky nippy one.

If we were basing it generally on performances then Collins has done more than enough in his time to earn him the right to have a few dodgy games and keep his place.
If we are basing it on this season alone then he should really be dropped and Walton brought in.

In other words we've got two great keepers and I'm happy no matter who is in the net. Neither is perfect, neither are poor.

I agree with everything you have said & currently when picking a team then current form has to come in to play , for me Collins has looked lethargic & is having an iffy spell & Walton should be given a run, its healthy to have competition especially if they know they have to perform to keep the shirt .

Can't argue with that to be honest. I'd always pick on current form across the team personally

He won't make a single bit of difference in the game against Leeds, we'll make 200k but apart from that, it's the least important loss in the clubs history. Concentrate on the job in hand a forget about the charade later.

Completely missed a straight forward cross v Derby(first goal) second half v Wycombe came for a ball fumbled and dropped it,routine stuff and errors being made.

I’ve nothing against Walton but when he’s played he hasn’t to me looked that good since he replaced Davies for the last few games under Morais.

His sporadic appearances since haven’t suggested to me he’s a better shot stopper than Collins - I think he’s a bit taller so possibly better under the high ball.

For me I’d stick with Collins. He’s had relatively few poor games, yes he dropped the cross at Derby and again in the Wycombe game - but his performances overall haven’t been particularly woeful and I still think those who blame him for any of the three goals on Saturday are exceptionally harsh - he wasn’t that far out, did everything to get back but their lad had hit a lob that was about a one in a thousand level of accuracy - as I said before, slightly lower Collins gets it, slightly higher it goes over.

Players are always perceived better when they are out of the team. I can’t see how Jack Walton makes us better.
