We moved down near the front so he had a better view, not a new family orientated stadium Elland Road.....his best comment of the night when entering the toilets "it's like 1972 in here dad".
Everyone on the (bus) return journey thought it was a decent performance. And a big shout from all. for MOM for us. Cole. Most thought he put a proper shift in and caused em problems. Some of the comments put out against him in this thread beggar belief.
A good battling performance from the boys tonight and some decent football. It was a good game with excellent performances from Mads, Benson and Kitching. Cole definitely put a shift in. He's tackling back, showing good skill with the ball at his feet and looking hungry and motivated. Agree with previous posters in this thread....our new young side, with a new manager have performed admirably tonight in front of 35000 people. It will have gone a long way to helping them in their development. We're only 6 or so games in. For gods sake, get off their backs and show some patience; and for anyone who didn't go tonight but still feels qualified to criticise the team, your opinion is worthless.
This attitude annoys me. “of a few tonight that put a shift in” are you serious? we played okay against a team that would hold its own in at least the league above us. people always attribute playing well to effort. It’s not that simple. They all out a shift in (maybe not Norwood!) to say they didn’t is ridiculous. It’s just they came up against a better team, tried hard and we’re beaten and sometimes we need to accept that.
It’s simply the definition of premier league football, 4 shots, 3 goals compared to L1 football, 40 shots, 3 goals.
We have to accept that we're in the third tier on merit and Leeds are in the prem on merit' the gulf in quality was there for all to see but shouldn't have been unexpected. Leeds look a really good team this season ' they're work rate was fantastic' i think we did ok tbh and now its back to the league...
Finally some bloody sense being spoken. It was a good effort against a much better side, no shame in that and like you say could easily have been different with the 2 penalty incidents. Really liking the look of Benson this season, some real fire in his belly to get stuck in and play as a proper midfielder and not just a fancy dan spraying 50 yard passes around. My biggest concern is how quickly we seem to collapse after we concede, we were absolutely fine for 20 minutes, they score a great goal, then we lost our heads for 10 mins and they could have been out of sight. Had we not got the first when we did I suspect we'd have ended up on the end of a hammering. Anderson, Benson and Thomas looking really good this year. McCarthy, Helliwell and Odour completely out of their depth. Norwood needs to improve quickly.
First match I've seen this season. Have to say, I thought defensively we looked OK - Mccarthy looked fine, especially considering who he was up against. Norwood looked isolated and I can't recollect him winning a header or holding the ball up - Tedic did more in the last 30 minutes, granted against a tiring back line. Overall, Leeds quality showed and if not for some last ditch defending, poor finishing and good save from Walton, it could have been 5 or 6. That said, it wasn't and we should have been going in 2-2 at HT which would have made for an interesting second half. The one thing that really showed was the pace that Leeds moved the ball, the runs they made, the quick thinking. We were light years behind.
