Don't get me wrong, I like that it shows our industrial heritage. Personally just wish we'd have something different than the council emblem. Something distinctive and unique to the club. Or maybe it's the modern border and font that doesn't look right to me. Just never got on board with it. It's a classic emblem with a modern, rather basic Wordart surround and writing.

The white rose will always be my favourite. It was on all my kits growing up so I have a nostalgic connection

Thing is, the white rose is all of Yorkshire, but I know what you mean. nostalgia wise.

It’s a great badge. The best we’ve ever had.

This. Puts into perspective Ben Mansford’s terrible idea to try and change it. I remember Barry Taylor telling me at the time that the board weren’t going to actually let him change it (or words to that effect.)
It didn't help that all the designs were poor though

Ive never been keen on the current badge/logo actually. But this brings back memories of Panini stickers in the 80s, when we used to have the Well with the Oak leaves, simples!.
And I did like it when we went with the Toby dog design for a few years.

Looking at the list it’s basically a case of throw up 92 badges and see where they land. Can tell that from Wolves being so high.

I think I actually preferred it in 2009 without the surround. Looks miles better.

    Archey - an excellent thread.

If you can work out which club the crests belong to without seeing the actual club name then I'd say it's a pretty good crest.
You can do that with the BFC one - it's an excellent crest.

Below is my home team crest - different! - Merthyr Tydfil translates to Martyr Tydfil and the crest depicts St Tydfil. And of course we're known as The Martyrs -- not many people know this!

As Biglil pointed out it’s not the council Emblem , it’s the Town coat of arms ,there is a difference .
along with BFC the council uses it

I like the badge itself, but the outside could be reworked to improve it. The shield looks a bit naff

I like our town crest but I don't think it translates well to a club crest. Too much detail when it's usually reproduced in small format. And I'd prefer the club to have its own identity. Just an opinion though.

Ah right, well fair enough. I'm obviously getting wrong end of stick somewhere. As I say, I don't mind the coat of arms. The surround looks a bit tacky to me.

I would also like to add, if anyone has got a 2000/2001 green Bigthing away shirt they fancy selling me, please get in touch!

I've had the original 1950s version of the coat of arms tattooed as a tribute to my Dad who passed March last year.

It was on the front page of the Chron when he started as a cub reporter..it was used by the club when he first started reporting on the football. And of course we were both born, bred and brought up here.

New version over engineered imho but I love old school thing so I might be biased.

Personally always liked Blackburn Rovers, used to love it when I got it in the foil Panini stickers, it was always a minimum 20 swapsies

He never was editor. Worked alongside Keith for years. Then left to work on Sheff Star/Green Un after the NUJ strike when they got sh17 on by the Chron.

Scene: CEO's office, Oakwell. A sizable desk, piled high with stacks of paper. An in-tray buckling under the weight of things to do. CEO is seated, using laptop.

CEO: (scrolling down), Right then, what's next? Hmm...
    - Address squad deficiencies...
    - Assess potential future head coaches...
    - Liaise with Supporters Trust re: Fan Zone...
    - Revisit catering contract...
    - Check stadium for holes...
    - The pigeon shìt problem...

    (sighs)

Don't really fancy any of those.

(looks around for inspiration. Sees framed Glavin shirt on wall)

Hang about, hang about... that badge...
    (looks closer)
Yeah, that's got real possibilities... I could do wonders with that.

Think it needs to be modernised to be more marketable, look at the NFL badges for comparison. If we did an outline of Toby's head in similar style to the Wolves badge l think it would look great on the merchandise.
