When do penalties count ?

    I have read one or two comments on various social media outlets about Styles hitting the post from the spot last night & not scoring & to be honest some of the comments seem a bit harsh , I say this because when Woodrow used to put them away according to some they didn"t really count as goals because they didn"t come from open play etc .

    I don't think Woodrow helped himself with his attitude away at Preston under Stendel and subsequent rant about the fans booing and jeering. After that everything he did or didn't do was scrutinised more. I never noticed as many fans complaining about him before his public outburst.

    I think it hurts when we miss a penalty because we don't know if we'll ever get one again.

    Dont think anyone questioned his ability to take penalties it was just for the last 18 months he had been a passenger in many games. His ability to score a pen was never in doubt but can you afford a passenger for the other 89 minutes

    Well first of all you have to put the ball in the net, then we can discuss how much they “count”. If you don’t even hit the target it’s not relevant.

    I don't think anyone's actually said penalties don't count, and if they did they'd be wrong. Of course penalties count - just like doing nothing else of note in the game counts.

    Apparently Woodrows didn"t count although they hit the back of the net ( according to his critics )
