I'm not sure how true it is, and it's a few years since I moved away from Leeds, but someone once told me that they're trying to turn Leeds into a New York type city. Basically having a built up area of leisure facilities, offices and expensive inner city flats all the way from the arena, to Elland Road. So essentially one day in the future, Elland Road will actually be part of the city centre, albeit an hour walk from the other side of the city.
I heard a fan at half time arguing with him about some one in is seat steward reply was just sit in anither seat then
To put things into context Myself and adult son got to the ground just before 7, got straight in, yes got searched to which I told the lad searching me I was old enough to be his grandad had a laugh about it. Went into the bar was very impressed decent pint , airconditioned, skysports on tv, nothing really more to ask for Got to our seats near to the tunnel was fairly empty till 10 mins into the game, stood all game enjoyed the banter and atmosphere . Game finished clapped the lads off then straight out, We had used just park app for parking, 10 mins walk away got to the car straight out no traffic back home for 1030, decent night, decent ground depends on what you expect from grounds, good atmosphere shame about the result. I get peoples poor experiences and those should be looked into by the relevant people , but its all to easy to be negative on here , for me it was a positive night , but not the result
The single biggest cause of the issue was the late walking in of the kettled group of fans - at 1940 they walked them in and there was no opportunity to correct them standing where they wanted. As someone in crowd management as a career, there were several failings that on another day could have caused some serious trouble or injuries. Some of that, unfortunately, is down to the stone island 'lovely people' who say they support us by doing a load of coke then abusing players for being 'immigrant lovely person*s', but also the stewarding/policing was poor and meant that there was no non-gametime to ensure safe ingress. Get that group in and to their seats at 730, and the gangways are clear for everyone else. Certainly not taking my nephew there again, and will seriously reconsider other away days despite going for 20+ years myself it was that bad.
Through no fault of my own (terrible traffic) I got in 25 mins late. My son and 3 other mates who bailed from the car to get in on time were in the right seats. Stewards prevented me joining them and said I should go and stand in the disabled section. Bonkers. Must have been 5-10 other people standing in there unintentionally blocking the view of the wheelchair supporters. Got quite heated. Sorted at half time but really surprised (even let us stand on the fabled yellow cross hatches which as we all know are a no go zone usually..
