It’s a poor fee but we’re not in a strong position to get more. Window shuts this week and he’ll be worth a lot less by January.
Here we go again , someone posts a rumour & then half the follow up posts accept it as fact, why do fans not just take a step back & respond to facts when they emerge & just take rumours with a pinch of salt.
None of our other defenders got in that side though… Nor any other relegated player. And whilst it is stats based I do believe it is weighted, to account for the issue you mention. But regardless of how or why he was in that team - whoever named it - it doesn’t dilute my point too much I don’t think. Of course it is currently speculation so we don’t know for certain what if anything is happening behind the scenes. But if there is truth in it, do you think £1million is in any way reflective of his value, even when he has less than a year left and when we likely need to sell? I really do not.

Anyone who has read about Hudds’ current issues, will see transfer talk of Helik to them as just a load of rubbish. That includes me. You never know, but I just can’t see it. 2 years ago yes, but not now.
But when people claim ‘Championship Team of the Year’ and think it’s important we clarify it wasn’t the official one, don’t you? Otherwise you’re down the rabbit hole of false rumours spreading like when headlines are read but not the story. I doubt this £1m rumour is true at all. But the club do have a decision to make on the fee at some point, and supporters need to understand that. A player is only worth what someone is willing to pay, that’s the reality. If we play hard ball on the fee and don’t sell him, it has a knock on effect on our finances and probably means we don’t get the players we’ve been targeting. The alternative is taking a fee you’re not 100% happy with, but you do it because overall it improves the club and the squad.
This is only my opinion but I think people underestimate our need to get MH off the books. 1 or 2 million May seem cheap but it’s money we haven’t currently got in the bank and although he may not be the very top earner at the club I think he will be close. Again - only an opinion but I think that is why he’ll need to go.
If it's 1 million, the board have failed miserably yet again . We might as well play him and he goes for nothing in the end .
As many as you like, comments about the size of the fee, the strategy I suggest you nead the thread again, where we are described as a joke, where the change of playing styles has failed to pay dividends, comments criticising the fee etc etc, if you go on facebook & twitter it is as bad , I suppose if you wanted to be pedantic the actual word fact is not stated but the implication of some of the comments makes you realise that some fans believe the rumour whilst others want to believe it so they can spout more doom & gloom, its how you read the comments.
We're not struggling to sell Helik and Styles though, the club have said we've had offers for both but have turned them down because they don't meet our valuation.
I fully understand what you're saying, but the club have turned down bids for both. If we were desperate to sell, surely we'd have moved them on by now? In Styles case, we don't necessarily have a replacement in. I'm not doubting that both could, and probably will be sold this week, but credit must go to the club in standing firm, waiting for the right offer, and risking having them both on the wage bill until January at least.
