I think people were saying 2million at 1st but lets be right its 1.5 million tops if he just edged their previous record of 1.3million.
Deal worth £2m. A fee believe to be in the region of £2m. That’s what I remember. We’re so quick to shut that rumour down yet spend thread after thread getting wound up about some kid in his bedroom on a ‘Footy Rumours ITK’ site.
You never know, he could have been on the phone to his agent during the infamous round of golf: get me out of here!
I've just looked on the Transfermarkt site. I don't know how reliable it is, but it says Luton paid £1.8 million for Morris.
These days, with difficulty. Although if it's deemed not in Barnsley's favour than it's taken as gospel and the everyone needs sacking.
I wish people wouldn't hanker over former players. Good luck to lad but I couldn't give a shiny 5h it what Bree, Clark, Berry, Woodrow and Morris do now they aren't at Barnsley. I've all on reviewing what's going on down at Grove Street lol . It was a good header though .
IMO the only reason why Morris got overlooked by bigger clubs was his injury record. I wish the lad well. One of the best all round forwards we have had in recent times. Ashley Ward-esque, but was out injured a lot, which was probably why we got to sign him in the first place. If we got north of £1.3 million I reckon that isn't too bad business, given he wanted away.
We turned a £200k striker in to a £1.5m-£2m striker within 18 months. I'm with you, in that his all round game was a joy to watch, but he needed injections to play that first five months for us and had a bad injury in the following six months. Looked fit as a fiddle last night though and a real handful in that first half (less so in the second). All clubs look at resale value (not just us) and some might have backed off thinking £2m was his ceiling.
I wish him well. Hope he can stay clear of injury, as he is a talent. My honest feeling is he'll be on the treatment table again at some point this season. He ran his blood to water when he played for us. All i can ask. Not seen that from any of last year's summer signings, which has sadly been our nadir. Cole looks to be putting a shift in now, but I don't see him as being even a 10 goal a season player. Just hope we sell Iseka, but who in their right mind would take him? I suspect he's sat in Nando's counting his cash...
Not sure we can claim the credit , he obviously always had the talent but we were lucky to get him for £200 000. Still it's a decent profit and he so nearly got us to the promised land!
