Allegedly that's the worst referee at Portman Road in years.

I've watched the game back and I didn't think he was that bad. They can say what they want about that disallowed goal, but he got it right. It makes absolutely no sense for Kitching to go to ground if he isn't fouled. Which is irrelevant anyway because Harness knocks the ball past Andersen with the top part of his arm.

Then I have to say, they've been EXTREMELY lucky if that's their worst referee in years... Christ Almighty how come they get all the good 'uns?!?

Can’t agree on that one mate. Unbelievable luck that we had that chalked off.

We need to take our luck at the moment. Another day that would have been another Portman Road defeat. A priceless point as it turns out. We need to scrap for everything at the minute.

Unbelievable luck is a bit over the top. Referees often give fouls for the defence in that situation.

Only seen the replay on my phone but to me it looks like the Ipswich player is pulling Kitchings right arm, no other reason for him to fall over backwards. Also a strong suspicion of handball as Harness “chests” the ball forwards with his upper left arm( need to see it on a bigger screen to be sure )
I expected the goal to stand given the way the ref was performing and can understand why Ipswich were not happy but it wasn’t unbelievable luck I’d go for a bit of luck

We have had far worse decisions cancel our goals in recent years (as have most other teams) Not to mention 2 pretty clear penalties not given in league games this season though no guarantees we’d have scored.

In my mind it was a stonewall goal so unbelievable luck. I’ll take it though.

I thought Kitching fell over out of desperation to be honest. We’d be absolutely fuming had it been the other way round.

I had the pleasure / misfortune to be sat in the Ipswich end and they were not happy with the ref throughout.

The disallowed goal was the icing on the cake.

My Ipswich supporting mate said he could see why it was disallowed when he watched it back and I agree albeit it’s probably a bit soft and one that we’d been moaning about the other way.

Ipswich looked a decent team, especially in midfield and I thought we did well to get the draw. Shame we conceded the second in such a sloppy way, especially as we should have been in front by then given the chances we had in the 10-15 minute spell just before that.

I feared a late Jackson winner given Chaplin and Morsy had already scored (did Chaplin ever take a free kick for us?!?) but thankfully he barely got a touch when he came on.

Of the other old boys, Norwood had an unfortunate cameo (two touches and booked for diving) but thought Thomas did well and put a real shift in.

Other than that I thought Mads and Williams played really well (and Collins saved us at the end obvs).

Honestly think we got away with the goal being chalked off, I can’t really see anything wrong in the incident.

This angle shows it best. Nothing wrong with it at all - Kitching going to ground was the last throw of the dice to stop it going in.

Thankfully, on this occasion we got the rub of the green.

Edit - MASSIVE over the top reaction from the Ipswich fan like. Do people not think when they type?

Sorry Loko, but if anything it's more of a foul from that angle. He has 2 hands on Kitching. I get the whole'go down if you feel contact' thing is very frustrating in modern football, but there's more than a bit of contact.

And I'm still fairly certain the other angle shows a handball.

There's zero force from the striker there at all. Remember that the rules for this season are to not give in to players who go down just because they feel a finger touch their shoulder or shirt.

Above the t-shirt line so not handball. But could have been a high foot against Madds, although I think that was on the edge of the box.

Kitchen would have got to the ball first without the foul imo and therefore correct to disallow the goal. Personally I wish refs would give fouls without players going down, that would stop any play acting.

I'm not convinced that there's no force. The slowed down replay doesn't help that either. I agree with Helen, I think Kitching clears the ball if he isn't tugged back, he's cleanly ahead of Harness and only a yard away from the ball.

I guess if anything it shows how difficult a job a referee has.

I’m with Archey on this one, definite foul on Kitching when you see it from that angle.

I would have been absolutely fuming if that had been awarded a goal .
No way would he have got to that ball without fouling Kitching ,
Yes I’ve seen them given but more often than not they are rightly given as a foul and no way woukd it have been given by var.

Looks a perfectly good goal to me but we’ll happily take the decision. Refreshing change to get one in our favour, especially at one of the big grounds.

Personally I still think it was a foul a soft one but no question Harness pulls Kitchens arm - not sure if its legal to stick your arm out to stop someone going past mind. I would be miffed if it was given against us if we are the attacking side but would expect it as defenders usually get those. From that angle it doesnt look like handball, but some refs could have given it as it was close. We have had far worse decisions given against us - if thats the worst Ipswich have ever had they are very lucky.
