For those who have also never seen this

This excellent film of Newcastle United v Barnsley in the 1910 FA Cup Final is fairly unique as the original is almost 4 minutes long and has some high-quality close-ups of the players. Barnsley’s Wilfred Bartrop runs out of the tunnel third from last - he would die during WW1

According to accounts at the time, their equalising goal was offside.

An early example of big club syndrome.

Favourite part has to be the referee. He's clearly on his way to work at either the factory as a foreman, or he's one of the Peaky Blinders, or maybe a gamekeeper, and he's stopped off to referee a game. Without getting changed. Or removing his hat.

Believe it or not the Referee was from Dodworth...he left the area some 12 years prior to the game and was living in Derby. Barnsley complained about his selection as they thought his demeanor to prove he has not bias to his home town would favour the Geordies.
