Their wage bill must be huge. Looks good on paper but I'll look forward to seeing their accounts

It is when you're skint like we are. I think we're way too quit to forget the financial mess we're in right now having not sold Styles and Helik.

£300k is eye-watering when the coffers are running on vapours. Some clever manoeuvring or an innovative proposal might allow us to get this done for less, we just won't know, but let's not be dismissive about the fee.

We really are in trouble if 300000 is out of our reach. Now a league 1 club running on a league 2/ conference budget. These owners have alot to answer for, Conway or no Conway.

Well if we can't afford the 300k release clause and are someway of being able to afford that why bid? I'm all for trying to get a bit knocked off and do a deal but if we are nowhere near being able to pay to required fee then there's no point.

I'd love a brand new BMW 3 series but I don't have anywhere near that amount in my account, I could ring up tomorrow and offer them way way under the list price but it won't be accepted and I won't end up with the car.

Thing is though Archey the player might have a buy out clause of £300 thousand but that does not mean that it cannot be gazumped but what I meant originally by a bidding war is say we offered £100 k then it might tempt others to top that until they finally get their £300 k

What has Wednesday"s transfer dealings to do with us ? They have got their budget & we have got ours , they kept Barry Bannan last season on a reported £30k a week & they had & have others who are on big wages but they have a very rich owner who flouts the rules & openly & bank rolls the club , minds you they are only in this league because they broke the rules so who knows hopefully it will catch up with them again

    Well I wouldn’t.
I’d offer the lowest price I thought might be accepted and then gauge the response before acting accordingly.

Fowls could play 2 sides and both would likely make top 6. Their squad is mental for L1, wage bill must be astronomical.

You’re making the mistake here of comparing a buy out clause with a list price. The buyout clause isn’t always the list price, as my original post alluded to. Nowhere near could be £150k with add ons. Less up front but more overall could be another bidding tactic.

Its a bit like the reaction on here on Saturday when 1-0 down then 2-1 down.

Maybe, but if they have a release clause chances are they will only accept that upfront, especially this late in the window to guarantee they have immediate funds in place to go get a replacement.

Firstly, it could all be nonsense. Secondly, if it's not nonsense, Salford almost certainly don't want to sell him. He's played every minute of every game for them so far and scored 5 goals in those 7 appearances. I think it's fair to say they definitely won't want to sell him. The release clause could also be nonsense. But if that's not nonsense there's no way Salford are accepting anything below that value.

There will be lots of rumours between now and the close of the window.

In 75 hours we’ll know for sure what the squad looks like and whether any of the expected sales have happened.

    Time for more new heroes…

If the owners hadn't used that £750k of the clubs own money to pay their instalment on the purchase of the club we might have had some funds left instead of looking like paupers.

As of 2 weeks ago (could still be the same now for all I know), they also had the smallest squad in the EFL. Further adding to their reluctance to sell.

With the exception of Ipswich no other club in league one is spending much on incoming transfer fees. Maybe this will change but probably more reflective of the precarious financial predicament league one clubs are in.

Without the sizeable TV money and recovering from playing behind closed doors clubs at this level and below just don’t have the finances to spend on transfer fees. We are certainly not the exception.

And owners that bankroll them, so quite possibly no need to sell.
