Must be lol. Just noticed he wasn’t on the bench and was defending him against some criticism. Actually thought he might be away watching another game.
Don’t think it was that bad. It was just awful to watch because we couldn’t get the ball with a man less. We were competitive early on, conceded against the run of play, then Walton had a brain fart & then Norwood disgraced himself so it became attack v defence but they didn’t really create many chances. The young lads did pretty well defensively but on the ball some of them were terrible, Moon, Hondermarck, McCarthy, Cundy especially. A far worse performance was losing to Carlisle 3-0 at home in the league cup a couple of years back where we were completely dominated from start to finish 11 v 11.
If he was in the atand he should have seen what we could cleay see which was 2 banks of 4 sat back in our own half most of the game. Like we were defending a 2-0 lead not defecit. not a great performance at all.
The thing that stood out most for me was the pressing by them versus ZERO pressing by us. Every time we had it in our half the defenders were nervously passing it amongst themselves while being harried constantly by a Lincoln forward or two. At the other end - nothing. Any one of them could have sat down on the ball, had a cheeseburger and then leisurely got up before passing it forward. Even before Norwood did what he did we didn’t show any urgency. I know there were a couple of chances early on but I never got the impression we would score from one of them. So glad I stayed at home but angry with myself for wasting €11 on a miserable iFollow watch.
Seeing as we're bumping threads.... Edit: on a serious note, let's just be patient. Good or bad. Let's give people time to do their job and implement their ideas. I was guilty of giving Schopp too much time I think, but I hate chopping and changing managers every 18 months. I still wouldn't have sacked Schopp like....
Even in retrospect, that performance against Lincoln was terrible and it definitely is one of the worst I've ever seen. Would definitely make my bottom 10. We've put in some good performances this season too, and scored some magic goals, but I don't see any problem in calling it as you see it. We were terrible against Lincoln, we outplayed Bristol Rovers, we out-worked and out-battled Sheffield Wednesday, and we scored as good a three goals as you'll see in a single game against Charlton. That's all fair isn't it?
Oh I agree. I see no issue with saying we were crap if we were crap. But to suggest sacking a manager about 6 games into a new season is proper moon howling stuff.
Never an issue in calling a team or individual performance poor, but it's always amusing to watch people trumpet their hysterical and incorrect predictions based on a sample size of one game.
