The time to worry is if we don`t "turn up" for the next two league games not over last night`s result disappointing as it was.
When I saw the team sheet last night I thought we were treating it like a friendly to give the fringe players a run out. The result confirmed we weren't treating it seriously so I don't really understand the hysteria on here after we lost. It'll be 11 different players on Saturday so let's see how we perform then.
But it was a chance for the fringe players to impress and maybe get into the 1st team. Only one who did would be young Jalo, rest didn't. The 1st team players now know their places are safe, nothing to worry them. Except Norwood, FFS
surely no matter what team you out out the aim should be to win the game!!? And I hate the whole " not treating it seriously ". Fans have paid good money to watch.
That's always the objective but how often have we been hammered in friendlies. Not sure on the attendance last night but only the diehards will have been there, the type of fan who'd still go even if we fielded an u-11 team. If Duff was taking it seriously he wouldn't be making 11 changes and taking Kane off after half an hour. I didn't go last night so that's why I'm reserving judgement till we play a meaningful game.
Point remains it wasn't a friendly and it should be taken seriously. Three losses and a draw, we need to get that winning feeling back!
Not an important game, nor a first-choice XI but nevertheless, it was worryingly bad. After a couple of recent errors from Collins, some have suggested dropping him for Walton. Assuming Helik leaves, those three at the back will all likely see some first team action this season. Kane and Wolfe are players I'd expect to at least make the bench most weeks, similarly the front three. Piss weak front to back. It doesn't inspire confidence.
Not one player who started at Ipswich started last night. The first team are ticking along nicely and we have some good backup players. None of those who played last night will be in the starting 11 at S6.The team who played last night will never play together in a league match. Individually some of the players last night can slip in as sub.or even start games Walton,Cundy and Wolfe for example. Last night was a scratch team and played like one but it doesn't mean "The walls of Jerico" have fallen down.
I know you did mate. It's just that's the tune that was belting out in my head whilst reading your post .
Everyone who went or paid a tenner on ifollow surely knew that first game at home to lincoln in the papa pizza cup was a game to try all the fringe players, give the first team a break and that the result wasnt hogh on anyones priority list.. I would have done the exact same as i am sure many others.
Like I said before, last night wasn’t a judgement on our L1 team, but it was a measure of our squad. Of course the first team is better, but good enough to win the majority of game? I don’t believe so.
