Turn of the century (ish) West Brom in real danger of being relegated. (Saint) Gary Megson before the end of season deadline floods the club with loan signings, many of whom, look, "dead ducks". Relegation avoided, next season top 10 , next season promoted. Many in these parts believe that the loan section of the story is crucial as the characters involved may not have appeared the best on paper BUT were in many cases no worse than players already there AND CRUCIALLY believed that they could win whereas the others who had been at the club longer had resigned themselves to their fate? Perhaps numerous loan signings might not be the worst of ideas?
Interesting, I think CM is one of our stronger areas. Connell and Benson have to play so not sure where he’d fit
£7.5k according to this No idea if true though https://www.spotrac.com/epl/newcastle-united-fc/matthew-longstaff-50265/
So that's Callum Wright, Matty Longstaff and Adam Phillips if they all come off. That's three midfielders. Has Gauthier Ganaye replaced Khaleed and gone a spree of signing midfielders when we need strikers.
Longstaff could be a great wing back I reckon. Good energy about him. Be disappointed if we miss out….
This is where I read £20k https://theathletic-com.cdn.ampproj...a-week-contract-to-fresh-start-in-league-two/
Good point that. Phillips or Longstaff could maybe go RWB. Not seen either of them to know who would best suit that role though.
I hate to be the pisser of chips but the Mansfield Town fans I know reckon he was babber for them last year.
Unless another midfielder is leaving?? Would still rate Phillips as a good signing. It's still looking Spackmanesque with midfielders.
That's a shame, I guess it was always unlikely with us being close to signing Phillips. I can see Longstaff going to a championship club.
