Anyone lucky enough to make it, I’d recommend a little back street good ale pub called the Free Press, just off Parker’s Piece.
It was my local when I lived there and had a great little snug, serving excellent ales, including Abbott which accounted for most of my student grant.
I walked to the Abbey Stadium a few times from there - 10 to 15 mins.

After re-reading that Email, I am eligible for a ticket on day one. I'll be London the night before though, so I've managed to get a National Express coach. It's a long trip but it will be worth it to see us lose 2 nil.

Too late to book a train for Cambridge now at a reasonable price.

I was going to post to remind you to check split ticketing as it may help.

However, I have a feeling the match might be in doubt now. I suppose we should wait to see what happens with tomorrows match first.

Think it’ll be one or the other that’s off to be honest, doubt it’ll be both. There could be an argument that cancelling tomorrow’s games is too short notice. Next week’s fixtures could be cancelled as a mark of respect leading up to the funeral. Just a thought.,,,

Would love to go to that game, I lived there between 79 and 83, the last game I went to was a 3-1 win in the League Cup. Talking to a Cambridge ST holder the next day, she said our midfield was the best she'd ever seen. Well it would be with Glavin and Banks....

When I was a student there in the early 90s the Free Press was one of the few non-smoking pubs in the UK (and the only one in Cambridge at the time, as far as I'm aware).

My first ever away game was at Cambridge in November 1992, and was unique in that it's the only away game that I've ever walked to. We won 2-1. If my memory serves me correctly, we'd just signed Wayne Biggins and this was my first chance to see him play for us. I think he scored that day too, but not 100% on this.

Think he scored both - one was a free kick.

Can anyone find out how many we’ve sold so far please ?

I recall Terry Venables saying that the midfield including Glavin and Banks was the best in the Second Division.

He definitely said we were the best footballing side in the division. I remember him having a dig at wendy over the offside tactic. It was definitely a pot. Kettle, black statement. QPR were awful at playing it. Got em promoted though.

Any tips on parking near the ground from those who know the city? Their website suggests the park and ride.

And forgetting to mention Ray McHale who was the glue that held it together. That midfield was something special
