Only thing I can think of is because styles as kicked a fuss because millwall can't afford to buy but Khaled has **** it and let him go.
Just when you think decision making at the club can no longer amaze you along comes this one to leave everyone scratching their heads
Maybe he wanted to live closer to his Hungarian home but couldn’t get a move abroad. I’ve no other reason for this deal.
If this has actually happened, can someone please explain the rationale behind both losing a member of playing staff AND not getting anything but a piddling loan fee to balance the books with?
This rings serious alarm bells, not just for the fact that we couldn't find a buyer for a player who on the face of it should have a few takers. Surely the only logical explanation is that Millwall are going to cover his wages and perhaps pay a modest loan fee. If we're in a position where that's more attractive than keeping one of our better players, we must be in more imminent financial danger than even the starkest of assessments has suggested. Surely he can't even be on that high a wage? Which begs the question, why have we invested in paying Cundy, McCarthy, Norwood etc?
You answered the question . To balance the books . Most likely saving 6 grand a week . To pay the likes of Norwood, tedic and now edwards .
I thought we were trying to make up a 7 million defacit. Now we are going to pay styles to play for some bugger else. Khaled gets bloody worse
We’ll get a loan fee and a player off the wage bill. Lots of supporters been saying he needs to go anyway for the last few months and that his head is tuned. This way we get some money, a wage off the books for a period of time and the lad gets to either put himself in the shop window or come back with a supposedly needed better attitude. I don’t really see the issue here. And before anyone Harps up about wanting £5m quid or owt daft for him it was never going to happen was it.
Maybe it’s because no team was willing to offer what we wanted? Enough people on here have already said that we’d have our pants pulled down in the transfer market and for once the board might have decided not to let this happen. If Styles wanted away and saw himself playing at a higher level he gets to do that, we get his wages off the books, a loan fee now (even if minimal) and if he reaches the heights that he did under Val we can sell him at the end of the season for a higher value then we’ve been offered now on the back of a poor Championship season and an average League 1 start to the season. Edit - Pretty much what The Ted said above.
A bit of honesty from 'the board' would be nice at this juncture, if they have given up on mounting a realistic challenge for.promotion, and ensuring the club survives self sufficiently them admit it so we can all.make an informed decision on how we spend OUR money and time.
