That everyone thought we needed a couple of forwards and a right wing back. Maybe not everyone, but I think that was the consensus. I also thought the manager said exactly that. As in, he has actually said those were the positions we needed to strengthen in more than one interview. Am I mistaken? I'll hold my hands up if I'm wrong, but he said that didn't he?

We've signed a central midfielder in Adam Phillips. In Duff's preferred formation we play two players who could be considered central midfielders. We've already got Benson and Connell and Wolfe and Kane who is coming back from injury. Of all the weaknesses we've got, and they are many and varied, the one area of the pitch where we look OK is central midfield. But we've signed a central midfielder. When we haven't got any money.

And we've signed a winger in Josh Martin. Except we don't play wingers. So people start arguing he can play the number 10 position. But we've already got Thomas and Aitchison who can play that position and both of them look OK. After central midfield, this is the last area of the field we need to look at. But no, with no money, that's where we want to strengthen.

And the final acquisition. We've signed a player who can play right back or right centre half in a back 3. Like Jordan Williams. Exactly like Jordan Williams. Exactly like the Jordan Williams we've already got.

Where's the forwards and the right wing back? Who's going to play left wing back if Cadden continues to be injured/can't actually play at this level. What happens if Andersen gets injured? Who is going to score a goal?

And BTW Norwood isn't unfit, he's just crap.

    It's f****** nicked.

Jay, thaz spot on mate. Why are we still signing players where we already have a glut of similar payers if we’re so skint that we’re effectively letting styles go on a free?

It's an incredibly bad window, even by our extremely low standards.

We signed a replacement for Callum Styles early in the window. Then sold Callum Brittain. I honestly think the conversation went like:
Blackburn: “Hi Khaled, we’d like to make an offer for Callum..”
    KEA: “SOLD!”

We then didn’t sell Styles, but we may or may not have lent him to another club. So, as of now, he doesn’t know whether he should be in South Yorkshire or South London tomorrow.

Still, we’ve strengthened our relationship with Man City…

spot on. This smacks of the CEO controlling the window with no input from the head coach at all. Duff really emphasised in todays press conference that he is the coach and not really responsible for transfers. The squad is totally unbalanced once again.

There's no rhyme or reason to any of it.

I know exactly what happened: The 'Recruitment Team' identified players in positions which we would have liked to strengthen. For whatever reason (most likely we haven't got the money) we couldn't secure those players. We had ambitions above our station. And then the players in those positions we maybe could afford have already gone elsewhere.

So we panicked. And we wasted money on players we don't need because we couldn't be seen not to sign anyone.

That is much worse than not signing anyone.

Those running the club may not be at fault for the mess we're in, but they are utterly incompetent.

Can we just pin this to the top of the page because despite all of tonight's observations and those that will undoubtedly follow in the coming days, I don't think anyone can top this. And i wish it wasn't all true.

Don't forget that our current board didn't even know the ownership structure of bfc themselves for the first 4 years of owning it so Im hardly surprised that they don't understand the structure of a football team.

Utterly clueless from top to bottom

Probably the most intelligent post of the set up our team I've seen for while . I don't understand the logic of todays signings at all . Specially with no rwb coming in . Wycombe ran us ragged down our right the other week . It's our Achilles heel, no doubt about it

Beginning to think that this might be it for me. I was cautiously optimistic for quite a bit of the summer, but the end of this window just looks like more stockpiling of players who we might be able to move on for a profit in a year or two. We've always done it to an extent, and fair enough - that's our place in the pyramid - but I don't think it's ever been done quite so blatantly at the expense of success on the field as it has over the past two summers.

Selling players to keep the club going has always been a bit annoying, but at least in the past there's been the vague suggestion that it wasn't the whole point of the operation.

I've just never felt quite so much like I'm just putting up capital for other people to gamble with. If I put the £15 or so a week I spend into my ISA I'd at least get a cut of the profits!

The reason we have bought players in who people may think we don't necessarily need squad wise.
is we have got to to keep money flowing in through sales continuously

if we didn't there would come a time when we wouldn't have anybody to sell in theory
so you need to keep topping your stock up all the time to continue to have players to sell
there not all going to come good , so you need to have more eggs in the basket so to speak.
or any money needed would have to come from elsewhere or you would run out.

so you need to keep bringing players in ,hoping i guess one or two of them are going to be worth XX amount more than you paid for them.
even if some of them are not ideal or exactly what you wanting squad wise at this moment in time or they seem a odd acquisition because we already seem to have those/that position covered sufficiently

they are bought for all intents and purposes for there statistical potential down the line for a good resale value to keep money coming into the club.

Let me end this with saying i am the last person to be sticking up for these people and that is not what i am doing.
that's what i believe there strategy is and why they do what they do.

Absolutely, but from the point of view of a supporter what's the point in the club making XX amount if we can't put together a passable and reasonably balanced team at the same time? At the moment it feels like we're more a glorified academy than we are a football club.

I said I'd give it to the end of the window.

No striker in. Can someone tell me who is goig to score the goals, unless we start playing Jalo? I'm at a loss. I think we made a good choice of manager, but it is clear now we are in a scrap to stay up this year. No two ways about it.

I think you ate spot on with this. Once again enforcing my belief that winning football matches isn't the priority. Maybe thats the way it has to be to keep the club going. Its not however something I want to pay to watch.
