That's what a few of us have said on here. Qe want him out because he's a high earner so we've only got the Duff side of the story to go on. If he was a regular and scoring goals we'd have still tried to force him out because he's a high earner. He's being made to look lazy when he can't be a worse option than Norwood.
While that's true and I understand the sentiment, an employee shouldn't need to be controlled, nor resist influence from their manager, they should be motivated and prepared to do what they are employed to do.
The words from Chaplin the other day were worrying. The club does not seem to be very player friendly which maybe explains our difficulties in recruiting !
I feel sorry for the lad. It's obvious that Duff is telling the media what the club are telling him regarding Iseka.
Have you seen him play ? And would you be happy for him to Be in the team/squad on his form? I think Duff was wrong to single him out but then is it mind management or rejection? Either way let’s not pretend he’s earned any game time .
Yet he gets lambasted for 'not doing it on the training ground' but we are happy to put out half a matchday team who are 'not doing it on the pitch'. I don't get it myself.
Obviously we can only speculate, but we've seen how the club treats it's fans, looks like it's not much different with the players. Disgraceful and so are the club sympathisers.
Exactly Jay. Duff won’t have asked him to be anything else other than a diligent and committed professional footballer. Maybe by ‘control’ he means the manager has asked him to train harder, get fitter and be more committed, and he just wants to laze about as he wants to play but not in an energised pressing role, just lope about and wait for someone to give him the ball. Every appearance he made last season was like that. Yes he looked to have ability in a few cameos, more technical ability and finishing prowess possibly than the others. But he looked bone idle on the pitch, so I’m not in any way surprised about what is being suggested about his training efforts. Would I have said things as publicly as duff? Maybe not. Maybe there are other motivations behind the scenes. He is a high earner it seems. But Leya Iseka wouldn’t necessarily improve the team, or it’s results, just by being a technically better player than Cole or Aitchison. If we are carrying him as a passenger then it’s unlikely we’ll get him the ball enough for him to show any of that ability. We aren’t in a position to carry a maverick. You have to earn the right to play football in the final third, we aren’t a great team behind him. He comes across to me as a player who’d only be comfortable in a team built around him where everyone else does his work. He’d need to be awfully good to justify that. And let’s be honest, history shows he isn’t that good. Players are always remembered as better when they aren’t here or not playing.
My theory is that Duff is finding out just what the Barnsley Head Coach job entails under these muppets in charge.
Many might disagree but I think a half arsed Iseka offers more scoring potential than a committed Norwood if I’m honest….
I've seen him play, and he looked to have more talent than our other striking options. He had a purple patch of 3 goals, 2 of which were impressive, in 4 games. I had expected him to feature more.
A high earner sat doing nothing costs just as much as a high earner playing. It makes no sense to shut him out to force him to move. You offer him a chance to move due to being a high earner thats completely understandable, if that doesnt happen then you get the most out of him to cover your outgoings. The Iseka instagram post should have said, i want to play, im fit, ready and will give everything to get in to the side and help Barnsley Fc. It just makes a ******** feeble quote, get stuck in and work hard. End of.
Or maybe he just doesn't think he's worth a place in the team, like the previous 2 managers... I don't understand how, when the third manager in a row chooses not to play a player, it's suddenly a grand conspiracy where the board have told him he can't play him, and has to lie about him being lazy to force him out. As well as there being no supporting evidence it makes zero sense, as if you call him lazy and don't play him there will be fewer suitors offering less money so he'll just be even more incentivised to stay here and toss it off for £8k a week.
