Norwoods not match fit and hasn’t had a pre season so gets my wait and see vote . Iseka doesn’t offer sweat on the shirt on the occasions I’ve seen him and Is almost invisible most of the minutes he’s on the pitch . Hopefully it’s mind management by Duff and he unearths the potential others have seen in him but either way he doesn’t get in my team with previous appearances and attitude .
How do we know he isn't working hard. Maybe he's working his nuts off but Duff isn't allowed to play him whilst the window is open. (In Europe). Maybe Helik wasn't playing because they didn't want to risk a potential transfer fee coming in? I don't think for one minute Duff is a "yes man". So I can't see this ending well for Duff, Iseka or the club.
Whilst there's definitely an element of truth in what Chaplin was saying, let's not forget that at the time he was moved on, we'd just finished 5th in the Championship, and he was widely regarded as being a lower championship player/league 1 player. The real crime is that we didn't sign someone better than him when he left, which is what was the bare minimum required to keep us in the Championship last season.
And the other games he’s featured in ? I’m not a fan of his work towards the team , we lose the ball he loses interest . He might have had a purple patch when he’s scored a couple but he hadn’t impressed me over a full game , I think there is potential there but his work rate cancels it out , I’m with Duff on this he needs to want to play for is imo .
The timing was when conway came out with the statement that the season had been a failure rubbish. Also he's as good as what we have now at the club
Because that's what's Duff is actually saying himself? There's absolutely nothing to support an alternative narrative at this point, you may as well say "how do we know he isn't playing because he's actually a Belgian spy and has been assigned to track down and recover a stolen nuclear warhead?" If you don't think Duff is a "yes man" then surely he wouldn't be the type to lie in the press and would be telling the board to piss off and let him choose the team? There's more plot holes than the last series of Game of Thrones.
This. He’s not once publicly come out and said he’s committed, available and working hard to get in the side. Instead he’s put a snide comment on social media which doesn’t name anyone: it might end up being grounds for termination of contract with no pay though as it is pretty clear he is badmouthing his employer - and all Duff has said is that he’s not worked hard enough in training; which is an opinion and one he’s entitled to voice, though I wouldn’t have done it in such a manner. It’s a bizarre quote. ‘When people can’t control you’. What is being asked of him by the coaches and club that he takes exception to? What is being attempted to ‘control’? He’s not said anything that suggests he’s anything but an employee being asked to do his job properly. I find his post a tad pathetic to be honest, though I wouldn’t have chucked him under the bus quite so publicly if he was my employee either so I’m not saying there isn’t an issue the other way too.
We've got some young lads like Marsh who run about a lot but couldn't hit a Camel's arse with a banjo.
My thoughts exactly , seems every player we get rid of was a world beater when we not doing well . Chaplin was ok in parts but flattered to deceive and I thought we needed better but unfortunately we didn’t get better .
Not sure what Iseka is trying to do here, other than save a bit of face without making any real claims. "Can't control you" - what does he mean by control? As in, asking him to train hard? If he'd come out and said "I'm trying hard just not getting picked" then that'd be a different matter. I imagine the truth is that Duff doesn't rate him as part of his plans, especially for his high wages. For him to be a bit part player, not trying as hard as the others, on the highest wages, doesn't make sense. If we don't manage to ship him out to europe before all their windows close then maybe we need to reintroduce him.
As I’ve said above, iseka might well have more ability but that doesn’t mean he improves the team or the results does it? He might take chances better - but how many would we get if he just walks and jogs around half arsed, meaning we essentially have ten men out of possession?
I would be surprised if our board of Jean, James, Julie Anne, Neerav are a group of nasty bullying, ruthless dictators. I said at the beginning i wouldnt play Helik if he is definitely going, I think Styles played only to help lift his status by playing well, which obviously didnt work. We have a mad chinese supervillian looking to destroy our supporters, all the players and take out multi millions from the club. Its a bit absurd when you think about it. Im sure we went for a striker but missed out for not paying stupid money.
Neither could Iseka , Not a fan of playing players on our team that only try when they’re in the mood and fade in the game , he may have the potential but he doesn’t have the application , maybe Duffs playing mind games and he applies himself or his agent gets him a move . I’m fine with either of those but I’m not fine with kits that don’t need washing after a game .
Plus Marsh minutes per goal - 256 Iseka minutes per goal - 429 The bloke gets better every time he doesn't play. Give it 3 months and folk on here will be talking about how we've got a guaranteed Balon d'Or winner in the reserves.
Maybe that's his point? Maybe he just wants to play, and the club tried to control the situation by getting him out the door, and now they haven't they're controlling the narrative around him? Would be nice to hear his side of the story. As you alluded to yesterday in your support of him, be interesting to see the effect on his family too, and as another poster mentioned, the effect on his mental health. All we are getting at the moment are shady, negative murmers from the press room.
