How do we really think this window has gone?

Ins: Connell, Cadden, Cundy, Mccarthy, Norwood, Phillips, Searle, Tedic (Loan), Martin (Loan), Edwards (Loan)
Outs: Woodrow, Morris, Brittain, Helik, Halme, Schmidt, Palmer, Adeboyejo, Miller. Maybe Styles on loan.

We know we're skint, and we knew we'd have to sell our best players. We've ended up losing 5 key players.

We've brought in some really promising looking players in Connell, Phillips, Cadden. It's good to see us going back to spreadsheet signings that are on the way up in their careers. Cundy and Mccarthy might be good, hard to tell so far. Martin looks a promising loanee and edwards adds depth.

There's one glaring area that we're short in, and that's up front. We've brought in two strikers and got Aitchison back, so it's a new forward line. But Norwood sems to have been "The" big striker brought in and he's disappointed so far. Give hime tme I guess - his record is pretty good - but he doesn't look great. Hopefully Tedic makes a difference. Bring Winnall in I say... (semi joking)

The other murky area is this Styles loan deal. I get the impression nobody wanted to buy him, which is understandable given his form over the last year. We've ended up saving on his wages by loaning him out. I assume the hope is tha he does well there and we can sell him for a good fee next summer. But it doesn't seem like good value for us - if we've got faith in him to do well, surely he could've done well here and been sold next summer?

So overall it's not been ideal. Some good players in though, which I think people are forgetting whilst throwing their tantrums this morning! If we'd have got another striker in too I'd think we'd done well.

C+ from me. Room for improvement. Certainly not the disaster some people are making out! People need to calm down.

It is a C- from me I guess.

Started off really well with Duff coming in as manager and the whole board room shuffle thing which brought lots of promise. They then followed that up with early moves for Connell, Cundy and McCarthy.

I really like the look of Connell, think he will end up being a fans favourite as well as a great player for the club and on paper Cundy is an ideal Helik replacement (he just needs to get a run a games and get up to speed etc.)

The window dipped with the sales of Woodrow and Morris, although we knew we would lose players (Woodrow was a cert to leave) it was still a blow but we seemed to have time to sort the issue.

They then added Norwood and Cadden who on paper both seemed like great free signings, in particular Cadden but neither have had much impact yet due to injury and fitness issues. I still hold hope they will come good, especially Cadden but just need to get them up to speed.

After that though the window took a huge nosedive for me and has become terrible.

It took an age to find a new RWB despite losing Brittain over a month ago. This new guy could be really good though so we will have to wait and see with that.

The two new midfielders sound promising and I am happy with the Phillips addition in particular, but in reality we had bigger priorities that needed addressing...... Striker.

The fact we have had almost 2 months since Morris joined Cauley and Luton and haven't replaced him is a shambles. We added Tedic but he is not here to be a starting number 9 so we are so badly lacking up top.

We also have the Styles debacle which now leaves us with 1 LWB at the club as they also let the other back up option leave on loan too.

I just cannot understand how we have had so long to find strikers but haven't added at least one more.

    Goals win you games.
5 strikers out. Woodrow, Morris, big Vic, Schmit, Miller.
    In. Norwood & Tedic.

When you say re. Strikers ........ "2 in", I assume the 2nd is Tedic? We were told from the outset he is a dev player. The club website agrees.

E for me. Our strike force looks poor, even by League 1 standards. Further compounded by Duff’s bizarre public slating of Iseka, which has probably finished him here, while simultaneously severely weakening our position to move him on. Then Helik and Styles. It seems we’ve literally gone from ‘they will only leave if the right bids come in’, to ‘yes whatever, we just need to get them off the wage bill and the window shuts in 5 minutes’.

I get that decisions aren’t made by 1 person alone, but Khaled himself said he had ‘99% autonomy’

Like with Asbaghi and Schopp, I’m sure he’s a nice person. I just don’t think he’s very good at his job. Other than Duff, for me we’re just going backwards under him.

At the start of the season I said I thought anything outside Top 10 would be poor. I’m now not very confident we will hit that mark.

Let’s see what Duff can get out of em.

Interesting that Martin is listed as a forward on the main squad. This signing and the lack of other forward signings would make more sense if we intend to play him up top.

Feels like a transfer window that Steve Parkin would have overseen.

Could see him playing where Aitchison has been, as the more mobile forward option

I understand from Managers, that they need 2 to 3 Transfer windows,to get the squad they want. I expect the next couple of months will be finding a couple of strikers for the January window.

It could be the club have not received an offer that matches their valuation of him and are therefor holding out.If this is the case then they are doing exactly the opposite of what some posters on here are accusing them off, ie selling for peanuts

I don't agree with your interpretation of Duffs comments on Iseka.I don't think he has publicly slated him.He was asked a question re Isekas future and he just said he wasn't in his plans. When pushed he gave a little more detail but I wouldn't consider it a slating. He also said it wasn't personal and he talks to Iseka all the time. Its a question coaches are asked at literally every press conference when a player isn't involved. The best the thing now for Iseka is to knuckle down and prove Duff wrong or get his agent to get a move for him.

Surely if Iseka isn't in Duffs plans it won't matter how hard he trains?

I've watched enough jazz musicians on YouTube to now automatically respond with a "Wooo... nice!"

For me we are now at the end of a miserable transfer window where all the mismanagement that took Barnsley from the playoffs to relegation is materialising in pain. We knew Helik would have to go but when he did it was no less difficult to stomach. So many first-teamers gone along with the hope we pinned on them. The new recruits may be fine but assuming a 50% success rate, that still leaves the squad unrecognisably weakened. I'd like to think we are now at rock bottom. Time to rebound. We are the comeback kids.

A ‘U’ . The exam paper littered with spelling and grammatical errors, with Khaled answering the wrong questions and missing the back page by accident

Khaled stood up against the wall being made to hold a piece of a4 paper against it with his nose due to bad behaviour (an actual punishment that we used to have to do) . If it dropped then you had to do another 10 minutes. Quality.

basically it’s the sort of window that could get us relegated. Genuinely awful.
