Being able to play there and being good enough to play there isn't the same thing though. Styles is much better than both in that position. Kitching is our only left sided CB so if you put him LWB who plays his position?

If Williams plays LWB who plays RWB? We have the new guy but we don't know if he's fit and ready to play tomorrow

I still wouldn't have done it as we are now left with him. We clearly didn't need to sell him that much as we've spent a fee on that new cm so we had some money from somewhere. I personally would have kept styles here until January and reviewed it then.

At least the board were clever enough to make sure he signed a new deal before he went. That part from them is shrewd so credit for that.

Kitching can’t play any position with any degree of competency. Williams is better as a CH in a 3

Winning football matches isn't the number 1 priority. I'll even concede currently it shouldn't be. Sorting out the financial shambles of our own making is.

I wasn't impressed with the rumours of a basic loan last night, but that's all it was. Rumour with no detail.
The announcement today makes it clear there is some common sense behind it, so fair play.

If that's the case why have we just spent a fee on a CM player? If money is that tight and we are super skint, why are we spending fees?

Don't have enough to keep paying Styles each week but we have enough to spend a fee on a new player and pay him each week.

Because we have to continue to speculate on players who we can look to sell 12/24 months later. This is the modus operandi of the club. So even if the player available isn't what we actually need if they fit the bill of potential profit down the line we will bring them in. Its why we have seen such unbalanced squads for a while now.

But that goes directly against what you just said in the last post?

Buying more players who we can look to sell in 12/24 months doesn't fix the financial position now. It makes it worse. Other posters on here have been shut down numerous times for asking for the club to spend money on a striker and have been told time and time again we have no money to do so but the club then buys a new player on deadline day.

They must feel they have done enough to plug the gap relegation caused. We don't know any of the numbers involved really. However if we don't keep bringing in players to sell later then we'll just end up in a bigger mess down the road.
I think it's a awful way to operate and its one of the reasons I didn't renew. But I do believe that's the thiugh process. It's the only logical explanation I can come up with for bringing in a player in a position we have plenty of options in while we re so lightweight up front.

I am not bemoaning the signing of Phillips by the way, he sounds good. I just don't understand the call to loan Styles out so late in the window, nor do I understand how we didn't get one more signing in up top.

I'm struggling to be anything more than indifferent to the Styles contract news to be honest. If we'd signed a striker, and assembled a squad that we thought could be challenging for promotion, then it'd be great news. But the odds are, we'll still be in League 1 next season, and still be desperate to sell him. So unless, he has a wonder season, I'm not sure the offers will increase too much.

Styles may need championship football to keep fearuring for Hungary. Maybe going on loan to the champ keep him happy and off our wage bill and if a miracle happened and we went back up he can join back up in the champ with us or we sell him. Thats how i see it.

Why do you think it is only down to us? 2 teams do a deal, one cant just force the other side whoever they are to sign a deal just because we want it.

So I'm supposed to be ecstatic that one of our better players/assets has gone on loan to Milwall for the season with no fee agreed?

Soz, I'm just gonna crack the champagne at this wonderful news.

My point was we shouldn't have done it yesterday. No we can't force anyone to sign him but I was saying that all involved had chance to sort this weeks ago but it didn't get done for whatever reason. Millwall decided they were keen yesterday very late in the day, we should have turned it down given the closeness to the end of the window.
