“Cornell” as the Wednesday commentator kept calling him. Said in other threads that he’s been the signing on the Summer so far for me. Cracking left foot and has a bit of bite.
I think that’s the difference between getting a player who’s actually had to play the role before at some professional level, versus picking up someone from a reserve team who’s never really played it. That’s one of the positives about the shift in recruitment this window just gone. Players who’ve actually played football on these isles.
he is the one bright spot from not a great window but if we play like that for the remainder of the season we are in with a shout of top 6 cole was also excellent
The window is nowhere near as bad as the hype given yesterday. It’s a striker short, no doubt at all, but far too early to be judging the players brought in. Even with just six games or so they’ve each shown something positive so far. Bodes well for a long season. Three important signings not even involved today as well, so are we finally looking at a bit of depth? Bench definitely looked stronger than it has recently, so fingers crossed.
I get that. But if a worthwhile one never became available or realistic, do you waste cash on one until January or do you treat the Duff project with the three/four windows it deserves? We were never going to sort the mess of last season in one window, but it isn’t as bad as folk have been saying.
What sort of midfielder is Connell. Is he defensive, attacking or just reads a game well with good distribution?
Duff just said two more signings were really close. You’ve got to believe one of them, or both, were strikers. Maybe we didn’t work hard enough, maybe we had the rug pulled from under us with no time to go elsewhere. You just don’t know. Not just us though. Clubs all over didn’t get those final pieces of the jigsaw over the line.
