It was only a couple of weeks ago we got embarrassed by Wycombe, and now we've taken four points away from the two league favourites. I wouldn't get too high or low from any result this early on. Still think we're a proper striker short of a comfortable top six push, but we'll see. League One is w*nk afterall.
Agreed. There’s been some ridiculous behaviour on Twatter this week. To the point where I considered deleting it. Folk harassing JAQ, tagging her in stuff etc. Revolting.
Exactly this. I think that’s where the OP was aiming most of the post, not at people who haven’t been happy for 18 months but rounded with their opinions and reasons why.
Most people, myself included, have criticised the club over the last 18 months. Quite rightly. I've no problem with the club being criticised based on facts. The Hex situation. The mismanagement of Conway etc. I do when it's based on guesswork and supposition like Lee and Conway still being in charge. Guesswork and supposition in the face of being told repeatedly by people with a much closer knowledge of the internal workings of the club that that's not the case. I've also got a problem with the players being abused on a daily basis. He's s**t, he's useless, we're going to get beat 5-0 etc, etc. We all have opinions about how good or otherwise some players are and they'll all differ but there's ways of expressing it. I'm not pointing the finger at you in any of this Fonzie, I'm merely using your post to put my point. I'm fed up of seeing some of the mindless, ill thought out vitriol. I don't go near twitter or facebook but I can imagine because they're both sewers compared to here. It gets to the point though where there are spells when I stay off here because the mindless abuse is so maddening. But then what does that matter? I'm just a happy clapper.
I've no problem with the criticism aimed at the board on here. It's some posters vitriol aimed at players that's worrying. Take Norwood as an example. Last week he was the worst thing that ever happened to barnsley, today, those same posters will be hailing him as our saviour. I suspect those same posters will be the fans, when they actually attend a game, that send their kids down to try and tab said players shirt. Many balanced posters on here but also a lot of the poster described above.
I think what the OP was getting at, is that people keep constantly writing off the team and players, some of them before they'd even signed, and then go silent when we put in a display like that. It seems a bit tit for tat, but then again, it works both ways. When people are being accused of being "board apologists" for praising incoming transfers, then what do you expect? (I'm obviously not saying you do that btw) There was no mention of the ownership in the OP. Everyone is fully aware that it's been an absolute sham for the last 12/18 months. I think some people can't wait to write the playing staff off at every single opportunity, and it was a gripe at that. You can't start a thread about anything, without it turning into a discussion on how poor Devante Cole is for example.
You’ve criticised the club though not the team Fonzie, don’t think anyone would disagree the club has been run as a shambles over last 18months or so and all Fans rightly should offer their opinion on this. I don’t mind the posters who voice their opinions after a game either but when some are so negative before a balls even kicked, it gets tiring and you start to question the benefits of this. Don’t recall you being one of those posters, so don’t believe the OP was aimed at you. In short, I think people are saying let’s try to be positive towards the team. Great performance and result for us all to enjoy. COYR
For what it’s worth I think some have gone too far on here but what I’ve seen on Facebook and Twitter is beyond the pale. I always thought we’d have a quiet start. I still think we might be a striker short of a proper promotion tilt; and I don’t think Kitching is a long term solution at wing back so we need Cadden fit. But we are better than a fair few teams in this division from what I’ve seen as we are; plus we’ve brought in more to support that and whilst I still see some inconsistency in the coming weeks I think we should be pretty comfortable in mid table by Christmas. Add a centre forward in January and we could finish strongly. I’m not getting carried away by yesterday. There might be more days like Wycombe to come as well. The fact we have the ability to perform as we did yesterday shows we will get results though. Plus, if we can get four points from the next two home games, things will look more than decent. The Lincoln game to me still means absolutely nothing, and the only defeat I thought was truly disappointing was the Wycombe one. And as Loko said, they were last season’s play off finalists - and they are seasoned pro’s at ruining games and old manning teams - our lads will have learnt a lot from that game. In our opening seven games we’ve played three of this morning’s top four away from home, and got four points from them. I honestly didn’t think we’d have ten points after seven games, or be as high as tenth. It’s a decent platform. But I’d implore people to keep calm as and when we lose a game (or win one we might not be expected to), it’s a long season, there a lot of things will happen. Norwood showed today the reason he was signed - maybe that red card was a kick up the arse that won’t harm him.
I think people have a right to be frustrated at not bringing another striker in on deadline day AND be delighted that we’ve just beaten Wednesday away. Nowt wrong with feeling different emotions at different times. As Ronan sung, ‘life is a rollercoaster’.
I think we all need to be realistic we aren't the worst team in the league when we got beat by Wycombe nor are we the best because we beat that lot. As Duff has said trust the process this season we have the look of a top half team yesterday we were well organised and hard working how far that gets us we will have to wait and see patience is the key.
Agree, that's what really matters. Some of the off field stuff is not for me. Fan zone. fan experience what's happening with the catering and booze. Some relevant points also. But getting it right on the field is what I go for. Swift judgements on players is not the answer. Some blossom straight away. Some take time to adjust. Fit the system etc. Some will fall by the wayside. Allus thus. Onwards and upwards. The signs are there that we could have a good side putting it mildly after several recent performances. The wycombe game being the anomaly. Wycombe deserve credit for that performance. As did we yesterday.
Some great points in this thread this morning - refreshing to read some decent discussion. It's a good point that despite what's happening in the boardroom, players should be backed to the hilt whilst they're wearing a red shirt on a Saturday. I'm pleased for Cole and Norwood - hopefully they can form a partnership this season.
