Potato/tomato, I think. My problem is just that I preferred Cryne as a Barnsley man who was a Barnsley fan. I know it's idealistic to want that of an owner/board members, I just think it's symbolic of modern football and how the game is all about money now. Was it £1.9 billion spent by prem sides in the window? That's ******* insane. That and how anyone half decent we find immediately leaves cos someone else will pay them treble what we can, is just depressing. I've real time for Andersen due to these reasons, and I dunno, where's the next Bobby/Disco coming from? Some will say I'm moaning, but I find it harder to support a team that doesn't feel 'mine' or 'ours'.
Can 100% appreciate all of that. I think the majority of supporters would share the sentiment, but the game moving on means some might have accepted some of the realisms around it. Reality with Madds is that if he keeps this up and we don’t get promoted, he’ll definitely move on having giving us four seasons and only having a year left on his deal. We likely won’t be in a position to offer him a better contract. If we somehow get promoted, which is admittedly unlikely, maybe he’ll sign a new deal. That could put him, Collins and Williams on 150-250 games for us before they actually leave, which would get you a little bit of what you’re hoping for.
I've just read that Luca Connell has 3 assists in 6 league games. Only Amine Bassi managed more in the entirety of last season. That just goes to show how little quality we had last season. Luca Connell has as many goals and assists this season, as Callum Brittain did last season. Admittedly at a different level, but he's achieved that in just 6 games.
I think it’s actually 3 assists in his last 2 games isn’t it? 2 at Ipswich and 1 at Wednesday? Which proves your point even more I’d say. The lack of creativity last season, particularly before Quina and Bassi, was painful.
Indeed you are correct. Particularly when you factor in Claudio Gomes, who played the same sort of role as Connell. He notched 1 goal and 1 assist (iirc).
