I don’t post as much as I used to but I’m still actively reading. I’ve noticed that this lad comes in for a lot of stick on this board yet nobody’s posted how good he was yesterday or any sort of credit so I’ve broken my mould to come on and say how well he played yesterday. Nobody can question that he gives his all and although he can be hot tempered at times, I actually like that in a player. It’s better than having the heart of a pea and I can see why the coaches over the last 18m play him. He was fantastic yesterday playing LWB and although I’d prefer Cadden out there with more of an end product, Liam fitted in very well and definitely was up there for MOTM. If you ever read this board (I hope u don’t) Then keep going Liam. Rather have a player with the heart on his sleeve.
Kitching is one of my favourites, he would give everything and can play centre half, left side of a back 3, left back or left wing back. Strong tackles, mad runs forward, fully committed the lad more than deserves his place in this team,
He did play well yesterday - but I’ll reserve judgement for now. For me he’s still too much of a risk defensively to play centre back and not enough end product to play wing back. Maybe he’d be ok as a left back in a back four - but when Cadden is fit I don’t see him in my first eleven - though I suspect he’d play LCB. I don’t particularly rate him, I don’t see him having a prolonged professional career. But yesterday was encouraging and I’ll support whoever is picked to play so I hope I’m proved wrong whilst he continues to be selected.
He’s been really good in two or three games this season so far but yesterday was his best performance. Excellent throughout, unlucky not to put us 1-0 up early doors, and his height caused them a problem which was a useful outlet for us with those diagonal balls. We were guilty of not reacting quickly enough to knowing he would win some of those headers, but he linked up brilliantly with Aitchison first half.
I agree with you. He's very underated. 100% every game. Strong in the tackle. Never shirks. Good header of the ball. Pacey. Surging runs going forward. Versatile. Distribution needs to improve but with MDs coaching, this can only improve. We're a better team with him in it.
I have every confidence that him and the other defenders will come on leaps and bounds under Duffs coaching.
He's getting better every week, he's 22 and already played 84 games, I would say he's well on the way to having a decent career.
Yesterday he did well . Was it Palmer he took out early on? That set the game for me . Wednesday thought they were in for a stroll . When he plays well and is more controlled, he's ok . The jury's still out for me though ?
Unfortunately we don’t give guys any breathing space before we’re on their case. I remember when Mads first joined us he looked as though he had two left feet and had never seen a football. The last time I checked Mads was running away with our MOM pole for yesterday’s game when there was 4 or 5 serious contenders
Not seen anything mentioned but how did new signing josh Martin and Tedic look in the 20 minutes or so that they were on.
Martin looked good. Wanting to get involved and v useful with the ball at his feet and running with the ball. Promising. Tedic put himself about a bit and made it awkward for their defence. One of the impressive things (apart from the Duff tactical masterclass) about all the lads yesterday was the work rate and effort.
Reminds me (in character) of a young Chris Morgan. Sweats blood for BFC, flying tackles, but a bit daft when things get away from him. Real promise in there if Duff can handle him well. Hope he doesn't turn into the blunt Morgan, mind!
