It’s like inbreeding, every time you get the next one, they retain all the bad parts of the previous one, plus a few more.

Tories are doomed - especially when they realise its more of the same - she is the female equivalent of Johnson - Questionable sexual past, gaff prone liar, U-turn tastic narcissist with a staggering lack of self-awareness. The cabinet will be the same people who protected Johnson while he lied and cheated his way through the pandemic and beyond - Reec-Mogg as business secretary? You bet!! Can't wait, Labour's lead by the end will be staggering.

They are an absolute ******* disgrace.
600 of them spoilt their papers.
20% of them didn't even vote.
It beggars belief and now we have e someone in charge whose brain isn't even remotely connected with what comes out of her mouth.
    I despair.

If the system is broken, how would a General Election help? Aren't General Elections part of the system? ;)

I think people are slowly starting to realise that the political class, no matter their stripe, have absolutely no interest in the plight of the people in this country.

They're mostly morons who are intellectually deficient and only seem to listen to big corporate companies.

A wholesale clear out is needed, I would probably stop short of suggesting a Guy Fawkes-esque style of clear out, but something drastic and meaningful should be done to rid us of these self-serving mouthpieces for big business.

Get ready for a whole load of ultra right-wing laws to be enacted before they get kicked out at the next general election. Leaving the next government with the almost impossible task of repealing them and in doing so being hamstrung from actually doing anything positive. Our only hope is that the House of Lords can delay the passage of some of these regressive laws.

That's not true, many MPs (even some in the old style Tory party) have integrity and are there for the good of the country and to help people in their lives. It's only since the Tories were infiltrated by UKIP that we ended up in the state we are in.

A General Election fought by a progressive alliance with the top priority in their manifesto of electoral reform would go a massive way towards repairing our democracy.

Aye only one of them would get even a junior ministerial role in a competent government (Tom Tugendhat).

And if I'm not mistaken that leaves Truss as the minority choice of the 1% of the population that actually got to vote for our next PM.

It's a wholesale change that's needed, not just electoral.

We need to do away with the current House of Lords or do away with cronyism and packing the house with Lords for favours.

    Voting needs to go PR.

A new House of Commons needs building somewhere like Birmingham. London can retain the monarchy and judiciary.

We need to properly codify our bill of rights and our the way Parliament works, not rely on what happened 300 years ago.

We need to set down in law how we do referendums - minor changes - 50.1% wins, major changes - 66% wins - and define what happens after a referendum not some half arsed "it was just advisory" nonsense.
