    As much as I detested her , at least you knew where you were with Thatcher she knew her own mind and stuck to it. Who knows with Truss she changes her mind every week! ( if that long)

    Agree, but will never happen. The hapless, but better than the Tories Keir Starmer has not proposed this. Only ones in favour are Lib Dems & Greens as far as I'm aware.

    Results of last election showing FPTP and PR.

    FTPTP number first :-

    Cons 365 288 Labour 202 216 Lib Dems 11 70 Green 1 12 SNP 48 28 Brexit Party 0 10
    (smaller parties not included)

    Different countries have different systems of Proportional Representation.

    I think that in most systems the electorate vote for a party not a specific candidate, Each Political Party drawing up a list of candidates which are then allocated to constituencies. Voters don't know who they re voting for.

    If PR was in operation in 2019 then as I see it some MP's - e.g. the Lib Dems and Greens would be allocated to constituencies which have voted for another party - could be a situation where a Barnsley constituency has voted overwhelmingly for the Labour party but the constituency ends up with a Green or Lib Dem M. P.

    Not sure if I have got this all right - but PR is clearly a very complicated issue.

    I spoke to a red-top journalist just over a week ago and he said that the industry were rubbing their hands at the prospect of Truss becoming leader. Apparently there are quite a few skeletons-in-the-closet stories lined up already. Of course, it could all be ****** but it sounded like it could get a bit tasty.
