Hi there, please can anyone help?

what’s the usual calculation to work out for a ‘cash out’?

today I had a treble bet with odds of 23/1.

the first one won, as was an early kick off. At the 75th minute of the 2nd and 3rd games the second was winning 4-1 at the time, my third was also currently up as I had a draw and the current score was 0-0.

I was then offered a cash out of odds 10/1, compared to keeping my full bet of 23/1.

My question is, was this a fair and usual offer with just 15 minutes to go?
Or do all bookmakers and bets vary to such a degree that there’s no way of judging?

    thanks in advance

Not an expert but the cash out is even less generous than the original odds, so you'll unlikely get the real value of the bet at that time. It just depends whether you want to take the money or let it run based on what they offer - all it takes in the 0-0 is one goal and you're up in smoke. That's the risk with draws and why they're usually 5-2 or so.

In other words, if the fair offer, if you could even establish that, in your case above was 13/1, they'll only offer you 10/1 as I suspect a lot of people cash out early, and overall they'll make more money but paying out those bets that ended up losing will be cheaper than paying out full winnings on the ones that were cashed out.

    Or summat.

So, basically it's not great value to cash out but can be tempting.

Use a bet calculator. Work out what you have now. What the offer is and make an informed choice.

From personal experience let it stand. If you can't afford the stake don't bet.

It's only ever worked in my favour a couple of times (litterally).

At the end of the day if the cash out wasn't in their favour they wouldn't offer it.

Sometimes you can get lucky with a cash out. I had Ipswich to win when we played them and managed to cash out when they scored the disallowed goal which meant I cashed out with about 95% of the bet. Obviously the cash out was quickly reduced when it was disallowed and ultimately we equalised which made it doubly pleasing :)

I've won quite a few times with cash outs. Its usually a lot lower when you have draws in, even later in on games, because its so easy for it to change.

Id recommendd looking at stats, twitter, anything to see how you think the game is fairing and then as said above make an informed decision. Very rarely will you get anywhere near your full value from a cash out with that much time remaining

Two ways round this. First go with Betfair. They have a sliding calculator and you can do a partial cash out, not really geared for trebles though. On a single bet the odds can move dramatically in your favour and a cash out can give a tidy profit. The other way Betfair helps is with a treble like yours. After 2 successes in the first two legs you can lay (bet against) the outcome you've backed in the treble with a smaller bet. Eg £1 at 23 to 1 on a treble, 2 legs win, bet £5 at 2 to 1 against your last leg result. If your treble comes in you're £18 up. If it fails you're £9 up.

The answer always is to consider the value of what you are being offered. If your stake was, say £10 you are now being offered £110 to cash out. Your potential return if your third selection also wins is £240. The odds are (240/110 =) 2.2 (decimal) or roughly 6/5 (fractional). This represents around a 45% chance of the third team winning. If you think their chances are much better than 45%, keep the bet running. If not, cash out! [But you might also need to consider whether you would have been prepared to risk £110 on the 6/5 chance! True, you have only initially risked a tenner, but that £110 is available to you now!]

Incidentally, I had a bet involving three selections at Pontefract recently, and the offer made after the first two had won was pretty much identical, suggesting that the bookies use similar parameters. I took the cash and ran!

they reckon that over the course you will lose...or not win more with cash outs
strangely last night i'd bet on Atletico to win, it did eventually win, feeling lucky i lumped it on a mexican game, backed a team & scored on 80 mins, William Hills site didn't update, at 90+mins i lobbed £100 at 5/6 when other bookies were massive odds on, they paid out and withdrew it before they noticed ;-)
