Surprised at some of the reactions tbh. Seemed pretty obvious to me that sporting events this weekend would be cancelled. Personally don’t think they can justify more than that like, but we’ll see. If it’s just this weekend - and I really hope it is - then it’s no big deal really, in the grand scheme of things. It’s only 1 match.
I disagree - costing and inconveniencing thousands of people and businesses for nowt. People can show respect in their own way if they want to.
They're closing you aren't allowed back to work on Monday unless you're totally f cu kin' miserable. One has to conform in these tough times.
Surely thousands of people gathered in the same place observing a minutes silence would be a great way to show respect?
I think I`ll give this board a wide birth for a couple of days. I would have liked us to play but understand the decision. 50 pages of being told why it`s a bad decision may help those wanting to vent their spleen but it`s not going to change anything. COYR
If they expect me to work for the next 10 days I should be entitled to watch sport. Load of bootlicking nonsense.
I don't really have any opinion on this other than the official guidance and 'rules' were decided in consultation with the queen and in them they state that there is no call for sport or entertainment events to be cancelled, they instead suggest minutes silences in which case the decision to cancel them seems to almost go against what she wanted. I'm not overly bothered though. I feel no more respectful sat at home than I would at oakwell or vice versa really.
Personally ai don’t get it. Surely playing the game should have given people the chance to show their respect, now thousands of fans could end up out of pocket. I mean respect what’s happened and convey condolences, but just because I’m not at a game won’t catch me sitting ‘moping’ Good grief I was back at Oakwell the week after my mum died, because I wanted some semblance of normality and she meant infinitely more to me than HMQ!
Go to work, send the kids to school, fall in line, but don't do anything you enjoy. Know your place you Pleb.
Imho...I'm saddened by her passing but would it not have been better (as previously suggested on here) to have a 2 minute silence and matches on....this would be a proper sign of respect (proper gathering of people which can be measured)...then have a proper mourning/ day off on the day of her funeral. Rip your maj...anyway great servant
Just seen leeds match off on monday...which i guess will be part of weekend fixtures...but Tuesday should be ok....err I think.
