If you look at her history with employing minorities and discrimination legislation it seems she might have loved some of the people more than others.
If it upsets you just ignore it, I’m guessing you’re not heading to Celtic park, why should you care what they say do or think? Reminds me of those nutters who get offended on behalf of a long dead Arabian warlord who wrote that instruction book 1400 years ago.
The Royal family did not inititiate or exacerbate the Great Famine...the new British Govt did exacerbate it by allowing food shipments to be subject to normal market forces ,but Queen Victoria gave a lot of money to famine relief.
Personally speaking it was an Ill thought out decision that once again puts the plebs in their place while the poshos do what they like. I’m my an ardent anti royalist but would respect any celebration / mourning as I’m a polite person who respects the views of others and most other people care the same on an unrelated note I find the constant barrage of coverage particularly on the BBC irritating and almost Nothing Korean. An elderly woman died it’s terribly upsetting for her family and friends and she held a public role so you would expect coverage but it’s do over the top you can’t even see the top anymore. i wonder if when the first pensioner dies of hypothermia because they can’t heat their home they will get similar coverage.
BuT she did HEr Duty! (unlike those pensioners many of whom worked for many years for poor pay and could now die from fear of being unable to pay for their heating). **** 'em. FOR THE QUEEN!
You have proof she was a rascist? The institute may be but doubt you have evidence she was. Bet I could count on one hand how many interviews she has done over the years
Well she secured exemption from discrimination laws and had a policy whereby ethnic minorities could only be employed in menial jobs.
Her personally or the institution? Was the exemption to ensure the Monarchy couldn’t be taken to court as it was seen inappropriate or because they were/are rascist? It could be either or both reasons. And you will be fully aware it wasn’t her but TG Weiler who worded it in 68 and agreed it with the govt before it was presented to the Queen.
It's wrong to call it a famine? There was an abundance of food despite the potato blight, left to rot by Trevelyan & his cronies while people starved..
On the racism issue - I'm fairly sure that the Queen and Nelson Mandela were regular letter writers and very close when meeting in person. Likewise, upon meeting the Obamas she was said to be very taken with Michelle. Not saying she was or wasn't racist but the evidence suggests that she was at worst tolerant and that issues were more likely among the establishment/institution/firm than at an individual level.
