Is a state funeral a waste of taxpayers’ money?

Is a Coronation a waste of taxpayers money?

Should them jewels be sent back to India?

Will Duchy of Cornwall sausages be renamed King Charles III sausages?

    And so on….

I think you underestimate the British public, after all, £38 billion was spaffed on a ‘world- leading’ Track and Trace system that never materialised. Many contracts were handed out under suspicion of cronyism etc. Nah, nothing to see here move along now

    I’ve some more:

who is the richest woman in the world now the queen is dead?

why don’t the Dutchys of Lancaster and Cornwall pay corporation tax but generate 10s of millions in profits for the royal family every year?

Bet you’d get a different answer to the first 2 if you asked the different food and souvenir purveyors of tat around London.

The duchy owns large tracts of rural and commercial property as well as housing in the south-west of England. Among its assets are a Waitrose supermarket depot in Milton Keynes and a Holiday Inn hotel in Cornwall. In the last financial year the duchy generated £28.8m and the prince received an income of £19m – up 4% on the previous year. The money is partly used to fund his and his family's public, charitable and official duties and the prince voluntarily pays income tax on the cash left after costs, around £9.2m last year, the committee said

    From the Grauniad.
Just for a bit of balance.

Given that he is apparently an environmentalist, will Charles surrender the Crown's exemptions to green laws that his mother secretly lobbied for or will it be another case of "rules for thee, but not for me?"

With the price of utilities increasing will the Crown have another crack at using state poverty funds to heat Buckingham Palace?

Hiya Statis, I hope you and your wife are doing well today.
Q1, Not sure what I think but I bet it will be better value than anything the current government has done in the past few years.
Q2. Didn't know that they came from India. We went to the Tower of London a few years ago, the most underwhelming thing for me was the Crown jewels, perhaps it's the way I have been brought up.
Q3. Tough one,how about "Charlie's Bangers". I think this is worth a thread on it's own, lots of more talented people on the BBS,who can answer this.
    Have a great day.

Re the sausage question, the new Prince of Wales is now also the Duke of Cornwall so the sausages are now Willies,
Per the Jewels I believe most of them were presented to Queen Vic and I guess if they weren’t returned at the end of her reign they won’t be now

Inspired. Normally there'd be a copyright issue but I bet once Kentucky Fried Chicken hear about this they'd be happy to change their name to 'Chicken And That'

Being ex armed forces and having a son in the armed forces, I'm glad we have a monarchy . I met her briefly at sandown races where we did guard of honour for her. I've also a medal from her do I just don't get this hatred for the family at all. If we didnt have the royal family, what would the Chinese and Japanese takes photos off and what would you talk to the yanks about ?
I'm more concerned of the thousands of people crossing the Channel everyday or the price of a pint !
    God save the king

There aren't thousands of people crossing the channel every day, unless you're counting those on ferries and in the channel tunnel.
