... not to slouch and sloth about, slowing down any momentum we have, when we're in the lead. Because I reckon it permeates into the rest of the team who then lose their focus and drive and end up with an attitude of wanting to protect what they've got rather than pushing for more. Plus it's really annoying when the inevitable happens.
Pisses me off big style. I go to watch a game of football. And don't mind running the clock down with a few minutes left. But slow timing with 15 mins left. Ffs.
I dont think its fair to say that to Collins. Surely its the manager? If he wanted him to stop, or do something different, tell him. Collins kept us in the game, and I think recently he's been abling us with counter attacks with some quick throws, we saw none of that last season. And I actually think his distribution under Duff is steadily improving. Fantastic keeper
I respectfully disagree. It’s a fundamental part of the high energy game to give the press a ‘rest’. In our most energetic seasons we clearly instructed ball boys to take their time, injured players, and yes the goalie too. It’s built in recovery time. And if it genuinely is contributing to taking the sting out, then that’s for the manager to address.
It was them doing the pressing more than us. They ought to have been knackered, not us. Collins may have been under orders I suppose. I see no logic to such tactics, whoever came up with it. Cos it doesn’t work
If you watch the Cheltenham game at Oakwell that keeper was up to the same tricks. It’s an instruction I would imagine. Probably to stop us getting caught out in transition at the expense of not being able to break down a team quickly who will have retreated to defensive positions.
When we got to the Championship play offs he was a legend for doing it. Legend or Barstud… You decide. He’s like the bloke who slept with his birds mum for the milf/golf combo
