Just watched it, very interesting and the last bit in Grimey was excellent. I just wish they'd chosen somebody to talk to that didn't have a Dirty Leeds top on...
Well I went and joined the queue. Didn’t really have a choice, as my sister said I really should go. But when I got there, everyone was in the same boat and there was great camaraderie, with everyone telling each other their experiences and what led them to attend. Initially we were told the queue was around 9 hours, but it kept going up and by the time I saw the doctor I had been waiting 14 hours.
I've queued for a crappy pie in the east stand upper . Waiting to see queens coffin is nothing on that
So people who want to join the queue will now queue up in an unofficial queue for 6 hours whilst the official queue opens, and then join the official queue to queue for another 14 hours? Those people must love a queue!
They should put on display 4 or 5 coffins at various locations and tell the public there is a proportionate chance the Queen is in any one of them. That should help queue management.
‘Stupid’ queueing is a lost art form in my opinion, queueing for tickets for your favourite football team wouldn’t come into the ‘stupid’ queueing category . Getting a ticket for an artist or band you are ambivalent about then queueing a further 12+ hours to get a wrist band that gets you into an area that is about 20 feet closer to the stage , all in the freezing pouring rain and then used as a stand for coats and hand bags whilst your middle aged partner and sister act like star struck giggling teenagers for 4 hours …….that’s stupid queueing
You would get to know them well spending 14 hrs queueing with them. Be just like queueing up for the Premier League season tickets!
They should put the coffin on the back of a float - maybe one leftover from Notting Hall Carnival - and tow it along the queue. Put a band or a sound system on the back to play mournful music...
I know a band who once sailed up and down the Thames doing a number. Maybe they could use them. As I recall the song touched on the subject of her maj too.
