Our first visit to the Abbey in nearly 30 years, coincides with the U's reacquiring the stadium from Grosvenor Estates. After a very respectable 58 points on their first season back in the 3rd tier since the mid 90s, they've experienced a solid start to the current campaign. It's at the Abbey where Cambridge tend to excel, picking up maximum points so far with victories over MK Dons, Exeter, Burton and Lincoln. This is completely contrasting to their away form, where they've amassed just 1 point so far. At the Abbey, our record reads 3 wins, 4 draws and 4 defeats, however we were victorious on our last visit there (I'm sure someone can tell me the scorers from the 2-1 win). Our away record has certainly improved recently, with 4 points from the last 6, including our first league away win in 6 months last time out. In Sam Smith and Joe Ironside, Cambridge have 2 very formidable attackers, with 9 goal contributions between them in the league so far this season. Smith is renowned for his link up play, whereas Ironside is good at occupying defenders. I think this is a very tough game on paper, and a point would be a good result. Hopefully we can bounce back from the disappointment from midweek with a solid performance in front of a vocal away following. I'm going 1-2, with Cole and Thomas on the score sheet.
I remember John Beck being their manager employing Wimbledon-type tactics and behaviour to upset the opposition, especially with Dion Dublin up front. They’re doing ok this season but that’s what you get with two prolific strikers in the team.
3/4 nowt to the super reds, Tuesday's display was alreight and we'll move on from that an gi somebody a hiding
Ive really no idea - lot depends on whether we can score. I am going to sit on the fence and go for an entertaining 1-1
If Cambridge hadn't won at home, I'd not be very confident. However, as they have won all 4 so far, they are clearly unlikely to win a fifth.I fancy us to win 2-0.
I remember a game against them at Oakwell right at the end of the season in the 80s, they were bottom of the league without an away win all season and we were top-half. They beat us 2-0....
