I find it a bit ironic that someone is moaning about too much attention being given to the queen's death while at the same time they appear to be obsessed.

oakwell callings posting history for the last 5 months on the BBS:

I do find it a little weird stuff like this (so I think we're in agreement SuperTyke). The Queen and/or Royal family mean something to people, which other people don't feel. It's that simple. It's an historical moment whether you want it to be or not. There's plenty of streaming services and other channels that won't be focusing on the queen. End of the day, she's still someone's mother, grandmother & great grandmother. Even people who don't like the Monarchy or the Royal Family, I think a lot of them have admitted they quite like the Queen and what she's done/tried to do.

Don't say things like that. It just leaves me conflicted. Sat here at nearly 10pm still wondering whether to jump in the car and drive down.

Going on a long walk with my family. Respect the fact that some people will spend the day in front of the telly. It’s still a free country (I think)

Like you I have arranged a day for a walk with my family (Filey I think). I’m not anti-royal but have no necessity to sit in front of the tv all day. I don’t think it’s heretical

Cutting grass, weeding, park with the boy, Mum around for lunch. Catching up on the boxing and Moto GP.

I personally thinks it’s a nonsense and couldn’t be less interested. But it’s easily avoided for folk like me. Live and let live etc.

I'm sure they will treat the day with dignity with whatever they do in her memory.

I’ve escaped abroad and won’t be giving it a second thought. To be fare, people who aren’t interested are being provoked into commenting on it because the coverage is so bloody ubiquitous. “Just ignore it” easier said then done.

Probably not appropriate, given they weren't allowed to work in the royal household until very recent years apparently.

I'll be in the garden. Trying to scarify, reseed and dress the lawn.

    Im not a monarchist but .... :)
I will be watching the funeral and procession tomorrow for 2 main reasons
    1. Its British History in the making - I dont really want to miss it
    2. Though I dont think hereditary positions are a good idea I have to admit that the Elizabeth did a pretty good job as Queen - much better than most other countries presidents have done and I had a lot of time for her.

That said if someone else wants to go for a good walk somewhere I have no issue with that at all
