    Surely it's Park road, blinkin shame as it was my local 30 yrs ago & our first/last port of call as we used to live on Middlesex St. Spent many an hour & quid in that place.

    Are you suggesting Wetherspoons have decided to close the pub, or that there are ‘rumours’ the building is for sale and people are jumping to conclusions?

    Plenty of properties are sold with standing tenants on pre-agreed lease terms, so even the building being put up for sale doesn’t necessarily mean Wetherspoons will be closing - unless you have insider info.

    To be honest, a lot of that part of town could do with being demolished!

    Those with plenty of moolah who want to live in Barnsley would I think generally want to live in the rich triangle of Silkstone, Hoylandswaine and Cawthorne. Lovely part of town.

    I think that Wetherspoons generally buy freeholds. It may be different in the big cities.
