Sorry Mick but anyone who includes a tropical fish tank in club accounts loses all respect from me. Ridsdale, what an absolute bell.
That was for the £1 million in May, was it confirmed at the meeting that the split was even this time around? I would be surprised if Lee has stumped up over a million quid.
Came here to say the same. The day-to-day running costs of the club - electricity especially - has shot up along with all the other little things - even down to detergent for the laundry room. A 50% increase in day-to-day running costs wouldn't surprise me.
Football club who rely on selling players to make money buy bad players & so don't sell any players so lose money. To be fair to James Cryne, he got battered on here when he said that Val & the play off season didn't see any bids come in for our 'top players' at the time. It goes to show how critical it is & how thankful lots should be for things like the low ST prices, pay on day ones etc. You can moan about lots, but they're not asking you to put your hand in your pocket as much as they could & probably should.
Just a note on the running costs of a football club. The vast majority of costs are the salaries paid and transfer fees. The increase in energy costs will have an impact but, set against overall expenditure, the impact on day to day running will be relatively small.
They did talk about getting away from that reliance by improving the commercial incomes which are much lower than similar clubs our size. Definitely agree about the last point. What is it 5 years since season ticket prices increased?
But to quantify the problem an extra £100 on 10,000 season tickets raises £1m. In current circumstances that covers a month of losses… The cost base needs shrinking and quickly. The notion that we can increase commercial revenue substantially is well intended but reality has shown a limited appetite amongst corporations to spend significant sums sponsoring BFC. Remember Hex……
They got thousand of season ticket renewals during covid . I've still not received my vouchers nor as the 4 others that I sat with . The season ticket full price is too much anyhow
We've needed to improve commercial revenues as far back as I can remember. This year I reckon I have spent a few hundred quid less towards the club that I would have usually by now. I didn't agree with the replica **** discount for something we hadn't seen. I've mentioned on here years that replica shirts, training gear etc should be out early June for Father's Day and holiday season. Catering options never improve inside the ground.
I was going to post something along those lines. Did anyone ask what the ongoing cash flow projections are?
Are you putting these two forward as some sort of paragons of virtue? Alan Sugar - "people working from home are just lazy." James Dyson - "Vote Brexit! (and by the way I'll f-off to Singapore if you do)"
The problem with asking supporters to stump up more money to be served a better product which, given the hit and miss nature of the players we buy is not a guarentee of on the field success, is that it acts as a disincentive to renew your season ticket if you don't like the product on offer. In turn this means that you're losing the revenue you need to go out and buy the players who are going to bring you success. It's also the opposite way that retail businesses operate. If people don't like your products you offer them at a lower price or invest in new stock which potentially will tempt your customers back in your stores. It would be retail suicide to increase the price of unpopular stock with a vague promise to the customers that if they buy stuff they don't like at increased prices then you might be able to offer them better stock.
We're just one among many football clubs. Probably every club outside the top ten or so really big names. The only way to compete for sponsorship surely is to stand out from the rest. Make ourselves a club people want to be associated with. Maybe embrace and push green credentials, vigorously place ourselves as pro respect, equality, push harder in community and charitable causes etc, etc. If that also alienates some of the loud mouthed amoeba who disgrace the club with stupid chants etc all the better.
No just pointing out they are successful businessmen . What they say or do, I don't give a eartha kitt pal .
Interesting thread this its encouraging that the board are planning to put another £3.2Million into the club. They presumably see a way to stabilise things or they are just thowing money away. I cant see them stumping up several millions year on year. I wish I understood the detail - on the face of it selling Woodrow Morris Britain and Helik ought to see us through the next few months but I guess it depends on how the payments are staged. Also we dont know what percentage of wages we are paying for our loaned out Belgians. Or how much we are paying Schopp and Poya ( guessing nothing for Poya now but if we are still paying Schopp it looks like someone didnt do a good job with performance breaks in the contract We all know its a mess, but at least on the field its looking a bit better than I expected at this stage
If the board doesn't put money in, people moan. If the board put money in, people moan. Some fans need to take a look at themselves. Yes the board have astronomically messed up in the past, but if they're trying to fix things now, you can't also get on at them for that, too. The more fans who choose not to go or put money in, thats OK. But they can't also then have a pop at board for them having to put money in. They could cure cancer and some of here would find a negative
