You say that like it's a betrayal. The first priority has to be getting out of financial trouble. Why not just stop being negative and see what the situation is in January?
I'm not sure i was questioning Duff (can't read my reply) but I have been nothing but complementary to our coach.
Wow that was a good result, knew we'd be too good for em, 3 - 1, gor a be happy wi that, C,O,Y,R, had a great day in Cleethorps lost 1 - 0, but we watched a decent match, Bradford let me darn for 1,700 quid, on mi 9 team accumulator.
I was sat in East Lower near Ponty end and two blokes behind me were discussing a Reds fan's forum, and were saying how much moaning they did and never have a good word to say about the club. I don't know if it was this or Tykes Mad but they are both as bad.
Hold me hands and say I didn't envisage us getting anywhere near the points total we have. And, apart from some performances by our centre halves, I've been really impressed, particularly with the work rate. Well done all involved.
Still early days but it's interesting to see how the fixtures have fallen. We've already got 4 of the away games against the top 6 out of the way and we've yet to play any of the bottom 3.
And away at Derby which was always going to be one of the harder games. We're in a fantastic position, there can't be many clubs with a harder run in at the start of the season than our run in?
Not to mention that we've already played away at Derby, Ipswich and that lot down the road. Arguably the three 'big' teams of the league.
I trust this board to sell anyone necessary to keep the club afloat. They haven’t pumped £4.2million since the end of last season for shits and giggles. We appear to be in trouble off the field. If on-field success leads to a solution to that, brilliant.
On field success should lead to more success through promotion, not selling key players, dropping off to mid table and not getting promoted. Doing that would also disgruntle fans even more than a chance of promotion at first attempt was chucked away and judging by the poor home attendances this season we don't want to annoy more people than we have already.
Gotta reflect what others are saying, I hardly noticed the ref so he must have had a great game. As did too many of the reds to mention, excellent result lads. Toasting it with a glass of Oban Single Malt
In an ideal world, yes. But plenty of clubs, including ourselves, have to sell key players. In fact most do, other than the elites. On field success can mean financial success too. Everything is a risk. We sell a key player, we stabilise, we use the finances gained from said key player to keep other players & improve, year on year.
Folk would grumble more if we disappeared from the league game like Bury, starting again from tier twelve or whatever, I want success and promotion as much as any fan. I want the club to be there for me and my kids to support in decades to come more though. The £1million to get us to summer was one thing. The £3.2million they announced this week to get us to January is very concerning. To me at least. So I won’t be blinkered as to the necessity if players are sold in January.
I think attendances are brilliant after last season's sh*t show and the "Conway Out" saga. We're averaging around 10,000 after loads on here were refusing to attend. I bet 3/4 of this division wish they were getting such poor attendances.
But then we've lost to Wycombe and Bristol, lucky to draw against Port Vale who are all down the wrong end. I usually feel confident we'll do something against the top teams, yet struggle against "lesser" opposition. Tis the Barnsley way.
