Sack Rob Edwards. Didnt take long did it? Wonder if he regrets leaving forest green, especially as he got labelled as a snake for how it happened. Sure his bank balance will be better though!
Well his performance has been disgraceful after ten games they are 1 whole point outside the playoffs A team like Watford should have over 30 points by now and be 10 points clear at the top I mean this makes perfect sense ""We felt Rob had enough time to show us the identity of his team, however performances haven't reflected our hopes and ambitions." I mean how long does he want to turn around a relegated side with low morale and a losing mentality he has had over a months, clearly he isnt good enough
It's absolutely crazy isn't it? I mean, it's a good gig if you just want a payday and aren't fussed about anything else, but in football terms... Although, I think it's getting to the point where being sacked by Watford should be like a badge of honour now.
Slaven Bilic given the job on an 18 month contract. Although he won't see the season out, it's Watford. He's their 4th permanent manager of 2022, and 17th in the last 10 years.
Just gets dafter wonder how many managers are still on the payroll. Not sure how long a contract Edward's got but 7wks work and maybe 3yrs wages great work if you can get it.
They get through managers quicker than the tories get through Prime Ministers. Not as quick as they get through Chancellors and Education Secretaries though.
It's the Italian influence at the club. The managerial appointments are made on the same schedule as Italian Prime Ministers.
If I were Rotherham I’d look at him but realistically they might not be able to afford him - he’ll still be on the payroll at Watford and so he won’t take a new gig unless it covers what they pay him - can’t see them offering him a lump sum.
PS and 4 of those left us to go on to bigger clubs so we have actually got rid of 7 which is a far cry from the 17 for Watford
It is indicative of recent times that Hecky is the only one that lasted 2 years. That said loyalty goes both ways... More a reflection of the way football is these days. I do hope we keep Duff longer than all of them, but we'll see.
I'd rather have their level of expectancy and be fighting for promotion to the Premier League. I like the fact they pull the trigger early enough. It works for them.
They can have a level of expectancy to consistently win promotion to the premier league, that's the difference with us. When they're rewarded for failure via parachute payments when they get relegated, it makes it exponentially easier. They're probably paying the same amount of money to their sacked managers as we are on our playing squad
We're still 5 short (permanent managers). I didn't include Watford's caretakers either, which would take them over 20. Of those 12, 4 weren't sacked. The vast majority of (if not every) Watford manager in that time has been fired, by a group of owners who are all too happy to fire a coach at the first sight of a bad run of form.
You are not wrong there. In the past it has worked for them. Trying to keep a Brighton, Bournemouth or Barnsley in the top flight in the long run is not realistic. Brighton seem to have built the right way for me, but eventually they too they may be drawn in, but there is a lot of money in Sussex. Watford is on the north end on the London conurbation & they have never managed too many years up there. There was the Graham Taylor years & the recent ones from memory. They will either run out of money, or prove me wrong, but they seem to be being a little hasty to me.
